Dear Friends,

I am writing to you today with great pride and excitement to announce a significant milestone achieved by our organization. After an intense one-year incubation program, we are delighted to inform you that we have successfully graduated 15 Health Startups through our groundbreaking initiative, Heal Ethiopia.

Heal Ethiopia is a Health Entrepreneurship Program, which we have conducted in partnership with the Mastercard Foundation. This program, designed for the first time in our country, aimed to nurture and support innovative startups in the healthcare industry. We are incredibly grateful for the support and collaboration we received from the Mastercard Foundation throughout the duration of this program.

As part of the support provided to our graduates, each startup was granted a seed fund of 11,000 USD. It is worth highlighting that out of the total seed fund of 11,000 USD,Wegagen Bank S.C, in recognition of the potential of these startups, extended a collateral-free loan of 4,000 USD, further enhancing their financial stability.

Furthermore, we were truly honored to have esteemed guests at our graduation ceremony. Her Excellency Dr. Lia Tadesse, Minister of Health, His Excellency Dr. Yohannes Chala, Head of Addis Ababa City Administration Health Bureau, Ato Samuel Yalew, Country Director of the MasterCard Foundation, Ato Kidane G/Selassie, Deputy CEO of Operations at Wegagen Bank S.C, and Dr. Tegbar Yigzaw, President of the Ethiopia Medical Association, graced us with their presence. Their attendance not only served as motivation for our graduates but also underscored the significance of this achievement within the health sector.

We believe that the successful completion of this program marks the beginning of a new era for healthcare entrepreneurs in Ethiopia. We are thrilled by the potential impact that these startups will have on the health ecosystem, driving innovation, and improving access to quality healthcare services across the country.

The launch of the "Qesbeqes" ቀስበቀስ (meaning,slowly), an initiative aimed at digitizing agriculture and developing learning modules, was celebrated at the CALS/xHub Addis office in collaboration with the GIZ team. The goal of the project is to showcase the power of gradual and steady growth that leads to impactful and outstanding results. The event started with an introduction to GIZ's involvement by Melaku Tadesse, the GIZ component manager & deputy. Opening remarks were also delivered by Anna Amft from GIZ and Tewdros (Teddy) Tadesse Araya from CALS/xHub Addis. Presentations were given by Mekdim Amare from GIZ and Kibrom Tadesse from CALS/xHub Addis, providing details about the project and the organization. Alemayhu G. Micheal concluded the kick-off event by giving a comprehensive overview of the project's implementation.
