We are counting down to our fingers-crossed opening date of 17 July. So long as the government continues to say that opening in Scotland is ok, we will welcome our first guests back to the peninsula then 🌿 In the meantime the Aspen team are working hard to get everything ready. We can’t wait!

🌟 NHS COMPEITION 🌟We have been so overwhelmed by the amazing work that the NHS is doing across the country. To say a big thank you we are offering the opportunity for an NHS worker to win a week’s stay at Aspen Lodge, inspired by the fantastic initiative of , which is being championed by 👏🏻

All you need to do is tag an NHS worker who you feel deserves to win a break for up to 6 people at our wonderful Highland retreat once this is all over. Feel free to nominate yourself! The winner can enjoy an escape on the Ardnamurchan Peninsula, a hidden gem with glorious beaches, ancient woodlands and sparkling lochs to explore. We’ll pick the winner at random on Sunday 19 April.

It is such a shame to have closed Aspen Lodge at this beautiful time of year when the weather is improving, flowers are starting to bloom and the wildlife is coming out to play. There is so much we would love to share with our guests. But it is necessary for now to do our bit to slow the spread of this awful virus and take the strain off of local amenities and health services. Thank you to all of our wonderful guests affected by the closure who have been nothing but supportive. We look forward to welcoming you when this storm has passed.

We are trying to focus on some positives in this horrible situation. While it is a crisis for mankind, the lockdowns have drastically reduced air pollution across the world and the natural environment is thriving. In Wuhan the normally polluted sky has turned blue again, and in Venice dolphins have returned to the canals. I expect the pine martens will be partying on the lawn at Aspen with nobody there watching them!

We are very excited to have been announced as a finalist in the category of Best Self Catering Accommodation in the Highlands & Islands Tourism Awards 2019!!

The Ardnamurchan Peninsula provides an amazing setting for a holiday, and we love that so many of our guests say that staying at the lodge has made the experience even more special.

Thank you to all of our guests and everyone who has supported us since we took on the lodge last May. Thank you also to all the people who work hard to make a stay at the lodge as wonderful as possible - in particular our housekeepers, Christine and Ian, who welcome the guests with amazing cake!

All aboard the Hogwort's Express!!

Ok, it's actually the Jacobite steam train running from Fort William to Mallaig, but the Glenfinnan viaduct that the train passes over was a Harry Potter filming location and the train attracts many Potterheads keen to experience this magical journey and imagine themselves on the way to Hogworts. Harry Potter aside, the route is spectacular and often dubbed one of the world's greatest railway journeys. It's a wonderful and popular day trip for guests staying at Aspen Lodge between April and October.

Did you know that you can hop on a Caledonian Sleeper train at 9pm at London Euston, sup a nightcap in the dining carriage, snuggle down in the bunks and wake up in the mountains? Such a civilised way to travel up to the Highlands. Dog friendly too. And we are just a hop, skip and a jump (ok, drive) from the station at Fort William....

Visitors to Ardnamurchan are not only able to spot the 'big five' of Scottish wildlife (red deer, red squirrel, golden eagles, seals and otters) - if they are very lucky they might also catch a glimpse of a Scottish Wildcat, one of the most critically endangered wild mammals native to the UK 😮

Ardnamurchan and Morvern are two of the last remaining havens for the elusive Scottish Wildcat – an animal more endangered than the Amur Tiger. These cats are notoriously difficult to spot – although they may just be watching you!
