Sailing times are roughly 2 hours either side of high tide but view the Timetable link for more details. We carry up to 12 passengers and there is plenty of room for pushchairs and prams. If you are cycling we can take bikes and well behaved dogs are always welcome. The crossing takes 7-8 minutes and our volunteers will help you on and off the ferry at each side. This is a Not for Profit Community Project sponsored by fund raising and help from local businesses.

Today is the Blessing of the ferries. Starting at 1345 on the slip at Appledore then just after 14h at Instow.
There will be two boats running but the start of the service will be delayed slightly.
Do come along to the blessing!

Thursday 2 May - the ferry service is cancelled today due to the wind and rain! Let’s hope there is sunshine for the blessing of the ferries on Saturday!

IMPORTANT NOTICE
Following consultation and research, the AIFL Board of Directors have made the decision NOT to transport electric bikes or scooters on the ferries as from Wednesday 1 May 2024.
The decision has not been made lightly but based on the impact of an ebike/scooter battery combusting in a confined space next to a fuel source and the life raft.

Saturday 4 May 2024 at 1345h - please note that the blessing of the ferries will take place on the slipway in Appledore. the Applecorer shanty singers will be singing on the slip from 1330h. Do come along and take part in this annual event.

Friday 18 August 2023 - the ferry service is cancelled! We have had two/three decent days and on Friday the wind and rain arrive so we do not become too complacent that summer has returned!! Let's hope the weather is good for Appledore Carnival on Sunday - it is always a great event.
