Our Story

We sell to customers ranging from small independent retailers to large scale manufacturing bakeries. We also export our products to a wide range of markets including many European countries, the U.S.A. and Australia. Everything we do is driven by a clear focus on providing quality products and excellent customer service. We are a successful business that has grown significantly in recent years. In 2012 we were awarded the “Queens Award for Enterprise” in recognition of continued export success over several years. The business was founded in 1921 by the Culpitt family, moving to our current base in Ashington, in the North East of England, in 1947. In this area, we found a very capable workforce who helped to build a competitive business which is now one of the biggest employers in the area. In many cases, several generations of the same family have been employed at Culpitt. In 1998, Culpitt Ltd was acquired by DecoPac Inc (TM)., of Minneapolis, USA. The McGlynn family, who own DecoPac, have been involved in the bakery industry for generations. They are very committed to growing the Culpitt business and have invested heavily in modernising the facility and building a strong customer focused management team. Culpitt prides itself on an innovation programme, which enables us to introduce several hundred products every year. This ensures that we always have something new and exciting to offer. We have developed a number of unique, patented manufacturing processes for the products we make. We also work very closely with our supply partners to develop fashion forward designs for our current products and we are always looking for exciting new items to add to the range.
