Next stop for Chris and Philip was Cambodia's floating villages, which offer a fascinating glimpse into a unique way of life. These communities are built on stilts along the Tonle Sap Lake, the largest freshwater lake in Southeast Asia.
The lake's water levels fluctuate significantly throughout the year, due to monsoon rains and the Mekong River's flow. As a result, the residents of these villages have adapted to a life on the water.
A truly one of a kind temple complex, Preah Khan located within the Angkor Archaeological Park in Cambodia was next on the list for Chris and Philip to explore.
How beautiful is this, originally a Buddhist temple that was built as a tribute to King Jayavarman VII's father? Another amazing place to add to the must see list when in Cambodia.

Todays exploration began at Ta Prohm a UNESCO World Heritage Site, which is one of the most atmospheric temples in Angkor, Cambodia. Known as the "Tomb Raider Temple" due to its appearance in the film, Ta Prohm is renowned for its intricate carvings, towering trees, and massive roots that have engulfed the ancient structures.
Originally built as a Buddhist monastery in the late 12th century, Ta Prohm has been intentionally preserved in its natural state, allowing visitors to experience the temple as early explorers would have seen it. The temple's unique blend of human-made architecture and the forces of nature creates a truly awe-inspiring spectacle.

Here is what Chris has to say about Siem Reap "There are so many temple complexes to visit in Siem Reap - you could easily fill 3 days just temple visiting. Today we saw a few of the highlights including the most famous, Angkor Wat, the largest religious building in the world. It was really impressive - exquisite Hindu carvings decorate the structure. If you climb to the top, there are fabulous views across the complex & surrounding countryside. We did a half day tour by bicycle of some of the outer lying temples. Best time to visit is between December & February when the weather is dry & not too hot."

Raaya by Atmosphere Who would like it here? Someone looking for a great beach, chilled vibes, dine around mix of buffet and a la carte, using a seaplane transfer. Fantastic food, good facilities for children at this new modern resort. If you want to experience snorkelling with assistance, from a boat (5 minutes) there is a good house reef. If you want to snorkel independently directly from the island this is not the resort for you. You could of course do a twin centre with Helengeli which has an amazing house reef to get the best of both worlds. 👌 What’s the vibe? Chilled, relaxed, modern. The island story is based around a folk lore and there are nice touches such as making your own Dhoni boat souvenir. Jo’s top tip: walk to the edge of the beach, near Ampersand restaurant to see marine life from the shore right up close. Beautiful and peaceful to do at sunrise.

Helengeli Who would like it here? Everyone! Amazing house reef. Great for gorgeous rooms, marine life and buffet dining. Better suited for couples and adults rather than families generally I would say. What’s the vibe? Chilled, relaxed. Easy to immerse yourself into the nature. Jo’s top tip: snorkel from the jetty - go as early in the morning as possible, the early morning reef is incredible. 🐢 🐬

Romantic, secluded, intimate.
