First time for me to see the truly amazing reconstruction of a 17th c Creel House in Glencoe, accessible though the informative Visitors Centre : it took one year to build: mud, peat, heather, wooden structure plus wattle and daub...imagine the hard life in the 17th c - obviously you are sharing your home with your cattle!

My first guided tour in 2.5 years and Scotland had arranged the most beautiful weather for us this March: we explored imposing Stirling Castle and the educational Wallace Monument and my American guests saw it all at it's best ( ps I do like black and white photos though )

My dander around this special place on Loch Lomond brought me past : the 15th c castle ruin of Rossdhu Castle built by the Colquhoun family - only one wall still standing with visible gate, windows, defence slits and fireplace ...
Mary Queen of Scots visited this castle in the 16th century

Portavadie Marina - a wee haven on " Argyll's Secret Coast " with different types of accommodation from lodges to luxury self-catering apartments ( & spa, pool and gym ) plus lovely Cowal , Kintyre & views of Isle of Arran scenery and very tasty 2 AA Rosette food - you get there by a rather picturesque & lonely drive or by 25 min ferry ride from Tarbert / Kintyre.....

Grey but dry day in Argyll yesterday - off for a Castle Lachlan - 15th c ruin of the Maclachlan's - explore.( about 20 miles down a single track road past Strachur on Loch Fyne )
Note the " new " house in Scottish baronial style across from the ruin and the romantic location of this ruined tower house -
plus the celebrated " Inver " Restaurant and Rooms ( pods ) in the former white painted croft.....( closed at the moment but re-opening )
