An update on our situation.
We still have to leave Faraday Street by the end of September. The building works are due to go ahead straight away, so we have to be out.
I'm viewing a council owned industrial unit on Tuesday. It's smaller and not as central, it's just off Forfar Road, near the Fintry circle. If we take it, the council take six to eight weeks to do all their bank and company checks, so we may have to take that into account. If anyone has any space, a large outbuilding, shed, double garage, space in a warehouse etc we can use as a temporary contingency measure, please let us know.
We still have all our stock to move or put somewhere and we're trying to split the pallets so we can reduce down the wood into crates, which saves space. If anyone has any contacts with haulage companies or tractor and trailer, who could help with moving pallets in bulk, it would speed things up. A yard or space where we can put the pallets for a month or two would help too. Not ideal to have them outside but needs must.
If you've spare time to come and help split pallets, move things around and generally help out, call in during the week. I broke my wrist last week...Great timing! So I'm a bit limited, I'm hoping to be back at my day job tomorrow. I can do some evening sessions in the workshop but I'm limited to what I can do.
I viewed another property yesterday, out at Meigle. It would make a great second home for us but it's not really suitable to get everyone there and quite a way from most of our customer base. Plus, having two places to pay rent for would be the same as renting one larger place in Dundee.
We're forced by circumstances to take what we can get but I want it to be the right choice for our trainees, and you, our customers.
Any thoughts on the above, feel free to share.
Richard
