I began my professional photography career when my wife and I moved to Singapore in 2010. During my time in Singapore I worked with a range of clients and companies, from small NGOs to global corporations. I have taken photos in studios, boardrooms, underwater and even in the minefields of Laos. At every stage my photography has evolved: every shoot, client and location teaches me something new ab

out this incredible and ever-evolving medium. Some of my clients know exactly the type of image they want from the outset. Whereas for others, part of the reason for hiring a professional is to draw on my knowledge and experience to help shape their project. Either way, I am committed to delivering beautiful photographs of exceptional quality for every client. I also believe that photo shoots should be enjoyable rather than stressful! I pride myself on clear and efficient communication, and my background in project management has proved invaluable in coordinating with clients during complex shoots. In addition to my commercial work, I maintain one or two personal projects. Towards the end of my time in Singapore, I undertook a project shooting 50 portraits of 50 people from 50 different countries to celebrate Singapore’s 50th independence anniversary. It was great to shoot the beer festival again last week. It’s an absolutely brilliant event with loads of beer to taste, live music and an incredible setting.

I’ve just spent a very fun two days shooting portraits of dogs in the Cathedral in Bury St Edmunds.

All the dogs were brilliantly behaved and really easy to work with.

The photos will be used to produce a 2025 calendar which will be sold in the Cathedral Shop.

I’ve had a great week of work with shoots at and . More school marketing shoots next week including drama productions, general academic photos, more cricket, boarding houses, two sports day, a leavers photo and even a shoot at Tottenham Hotspur where pupils will be meeting some Premiership coaches, as well as taking on the famous Tottenham Hotspur Skywalk 😬

I’ve just finished a great two-day shoot at Thorngrove has a lovely family atmosphere with super friendly kids and staff. We had lots of fun during the shoot, especially clambering around in rivers and mud taking photos during forest school. (My wellies had holes in so I got rather wet feet!). More relaxing was being served a nice cup of tea and a shortbread while shooting photos of cricket 😋. Thanks to Caroline and all the team for an excellent two days.

10 years ago I started thinking really seriously about improving my portrait photography. I was about to move back to the UK from Singapore and wanted to put together a portfolio of portraits to show potential clients. I invested in a Profoto portable light and never looked back. This battery-powered light added a level of flexibility to my work and allowed me to shoot really easily on location, improving my creativity. I have since invested in several more Profoto lights and love the look and feel of the light they produce.

These portraits, shot back in 2015, were all part of a project where I photographed 50 people living in Singapore who originally came from 50 different countries. The project was my small way of celebrating the wonderful diversity of people in Singapore in the country’s 50th anniversary year. I was really fortunate that a publisher came forward and published the collection of photos in a book.

Lovely to see how my client Wilson Wraight have used the photos I shot for them on their new website. When they first approached me we put together a detailed plan of the photos required for the new website. We then planned the shoot which took place on a lovely sunny day in December. Since then we have also had several shoots taking profile photos of staff members.

I’ve just spent a wonderful two days at Rickmansworth School shooting photos for the new prospectus. It’s a fantastic school with great facilities, talented (and very polite) pupils and really helpful staff. We shot a very wide range of subjects from DT, gardening, swimming, tennis, dance and gymnastics to science, cricket, art, photography and some pupil and staff portraits. A busy but very successful two-day shoot.

I am very lucky in my job to shoot such a wide range of photography. A lot of my work is in school marketing and business portraiture, but I also work for local organisations like Ickworth House (National Trust) and also our lovely local Theatre Royal. I was very lucky last week to shoot a dress rehearsal of the new play by world-renowned author Philippa Gregory. Richard, My Richard is absolutely stunning, especially with the Theatre Royal having been converted so that the performance can take place in the round.

I’ve had great week shooting business portraits. Firstly I worked with the team at Wilson Wraight in Bury St Edmunds to shoot 22 staff portraits. The location by the bins wasn’t very glamorous but the portraits came out nicely! Next day I was up early and in the pub by 7am to shoot portraits of various member of the Greene King Executive Board. Finally I set up a studio at home to shoot some portraits of Seb, one of the team members of Maven Trading Group. I’ve really enjoyed meeting lots of interesting people this week and I always love the challenge of shooting portraits in different locations.

A lovely few days with the in-laws in North Somerset. The boys love coming here for some good old-fashioned fun - making and sailing paper boats, fossil hunting, carving pumpkins and blowing up fireworks!

It was great fun yesterday at working with to shoot photos of families climbing this huge oak tree. It was pretty hard work and my camera took a bit of a battering but it was worth it for the really@nice photos I managed to shoot.

Last week I shot some portraits of local actor Tom. He is moving to work in Canada and needed some updated profile photos to take out with him. It’s always great to work with good actors as they need little direction in front of the camera.

My main set up was using clamshell lighting using B1, B10 and gridded A2, along with Octabox and softbox. As usual I shot with my A7iii with a Sony 2.8 700-200mm lens. The camera was supported by my tripod and tethered to my Apple MacBook Pro using the cable and excellent Tether Tools Smart Shooter software.
