Our Story
Kent Model United Nations Society is the largest and most diverse society on campus. We are committed to enhancing students’ understanding of the institutional and political in-working of the United Nations (UN) organisation. Through attending simulated UN conferences, students act as ambassadors, representatives, and national leaders of their assigned countries whilst debating a variety of issues in a manner consistent with the procedure of the real UN. Such conferences take place on a university, regional or global level among other prestigious universities world-wide, and provide forums which build international awareness and understanding as well as provide opportunity for educational and cultural enrichment. Participation in the Model UN enhances research, public speaking, debating and negotiating skills, while widening the network between students and professionals around the world. Additionally the society host numerous speaker events, campaigns, as well as attending numerous conferences and social trips every year across the globe. Furthermore, the society hosts it's own conference, Kent International Model United Nations, which aims to bring hundreds of delegates from the UK and abroad together each year for a weekend of debates and fun-packed socials. http://facebook.com/kentmuncon We also host a high school conference, Canterbury Model United Nations each year. http://facebook.com/canterburymun
