Here are some trivia facts about Cartmel:

- Cartmel sticky toffee pudding was first sold at the village shop in 1984.

- Until 1974 Cartmel was a part of Lancashire before governmental reorganisation created the new county of Cumbria.

- Horse racing has a long history in the village as the monks would race mules for pleasure as far back as the 16th century.
