"We went on the 5.30 p.m. Sea Safari trip yesterday and were very lucky with the weather and lighting as we snatched an hour between the showers. I took this photo of an oystercatcher at the beginning of the trip in front of the Maxwell house."

We got some great views of Arctic Terns foraging for food on the lough last weekend, they have just arrived from Arctic direction so are rather hungry!

Pictures from a great trip out to ‘Angus Rock Lighthouse Island’ earlier this week! We landed on the island to enjoy a picnic and watch the seals, then on our way back into the Lough we met a lovely red sailed yacht arriving into Strangford from France. All in all a great evening out!

Some lucky Sea Safari customers had a treat this morning on their way up the lough to Sketrick Island, for lunch at Daft Eddy's - a pod of porpoises travelled up alongside boat, approximately 8 of them!

The hardy Arctic Terns are back in Strangford Lough, and they put on an impressive display at Angus Rock Lighthouse for all on board the sea safari boat on Saturday just past - hundreds of them diving vertically into the water from a great height to catch tiny sand eels!

They are believed to be the longest distance migratory bird in the World and stop off in Strangford Lough as they fly between the Arctic and Antarctic - they say the average Arctic Tern flies the equivalent of 'to the moon and back' three times in its life span!

We have trips going out this Saturday to Angus Rock lighthouse again to hopefully catch another 'up close' glimpse of them in action....
