“What a wonderful stay! The apartment was spotless and beautifully furnished and appointed. Great location. It felt like the best combination of a quality hotel and a private home. Made extra special with lovely touches such as a welcome bottle of fizz, flowers and treats in the fridge. Just those little things that make it stand out from other rentals. The charming host, James, met me at the property to show me around and was helpful and friendly. You had the feeling that nothing would be too much trouble. We were in Durham for our daughter's graduation and this lovely property added to what was a very special couple of days. Highly recommend!”

We're thrilled to have been named the most visited attraction in the region with another increase in visitors, in a new report by the Association of Leading Visitor Attractions (ALVA). The museum welcomed 801,756 visitors last year, an increase of four per cent on 2022! The figures were released today (18th March) to mark English Tourism Week.

Durham's spectacular Fire and Ice festival is set to return this half term – and visitors to the city can expect to be dazzled by a ‘star-studded’ line-up.

Organised by Durham BID , the event – which takes place from 10am to 5.45pm on Friday, February 23rd and Saturday 24th, will feature 14 different ice sculptures, have-a-go ice carving, and the breathtaking Fire and Ice Show.

The sculptures will be placed in key locations across the city – including at Prince Bishops Place, The Riverwalk, Walkergate, Elvet Bridge and Market Place. Each day will feature the stunning Fire and Ice shows, at Millennium Place, at 1pm, 2pm, 3pm and 5.30pm.
