On the last day on our way back to Edinburgh from doing the NC500 back in September, our last stop was at
Dunrobin Castle, certainly wasn’t disappointed, this magnificent castle in Sutherland, the Scottish Highlands,
sits south of the village Brora, this is the stately home of the Earl of Sutherland, and the Clan Sutherland that looks over the Dornoch Firth.

A few photos this morning from Ben Vrackie that sits on the north side of Pitlochry, on the border of the Cairngorms, this mountain that sits at just under 2800 feet high, it’s known as a Corbett, as it’s height is just short of the 3000 feet required to fit into the Munro bracket.
I never had time to get to the top of the mountain, I think only making it halfway up, people that know Ben Vrackie will let me know, I only made it to the sign in the photos, but still some fantastic views looking south down to Pitlochry.
Hopefully I’ll be back in the area next week, with a bit more time on my hands to reach the top.

Some photo’s from me and Rubi’s camper trip up north last year on route to do the NC 500, a stop of at Culloden Moor to visit the battle field that finished the Jacobite army’s stands against the British government in 1746.
If you’ve visited the visitor attraction you will notice the historic Cottage here that’s just a few hundred yards from the visitors centre, this famously known thatched roof house is Old Leanach Cottage, believed to have been built in the early 18th century, thus the only building that survived the Culloden battle. Historic maps show that this was a very populated area, also showing there was another two buildings beside Leanach Cottage, one being an old barn where injured Jackobite soldiers were seeking refuge, was set on fire by the government soldiers, killing everyone inside.
