Decided to spruce the inside a little as well so I painted this wall today and hung some new pictures. I’m making some new curtains and cushion covers too. First guests arrive on Thursday 💚

Giving Apple Pip a bit of a spruce, painting the outside and planting some flowers. I’m really starting to enjoy the light and view, I’ll really enjoy watching the garden take hold and enjoy the extra light. 🌱

Things have definitely changed and I’m still to explore the beloved forest walks that have all changed so much. I’ve not been able to bring myself to do it yet but next week I’ll go. For now here is a photo of Apple Pip with the sun reaching parts of her that’s never been shone on before. The fallen forest have given place to both a Mountain View and more light. 💚

I know it will be lighter and brighter and perhaps it’ll even help blow away the midgies but my heart is breaking a little at the loss of all the trees. We’ll need to take down the few remaining ones too as they’ll be weakened by the loss of the shelter from the forest. Storm Gerrit was brutal to this area. 💔

The storm took down the whole forest behind the cottage, so happy it didn’t hit the house!!

Apple Pip still doesn’t have power after more than 36hours after storm Gerrit and the whole forest (I kid you not - the WHOLE forest) behind it is gone. It looks like a mini tornado swept through it and took out every tree, leaving one row behind Apple Pip. Terrifying. And so lucky it wasn’t hit. 😳

My grandmother was deeply important to me. She taught me to knit and sew and she was a constant, nothing ever changing in her home. It was such a safe place, I often walk around her house in my mind. She lived for a century and before she passed I got a cutting from the rose that grew in her from garden in the south of Sweden. This rose grows in the garden of Apple Pip and every flower is a memory. To say that this place is personal is an understatement, every piece of furniture and every picture/photo has a story and my heart sings when I get to read that guests appreciate this. 🩷

There are lovely forest trails right from your doorstep and the river Oich flows a short walk away from Apple Pip. The sun was shining so beautifully today, tempting me into the woods 🍂

Lovely autumn colours and delicious forests scents. The wood piled high next to the stove for some cosy evenings after exploring the beautiful Highland sceneries. November is still an amazing time to visit Apple Pip. 🍁🍂
