📸📸LOOK AT THAT VIEW!📸📸

Winterton-on-Sea church tower will be open 2-4pm tomorrow (Saturday) and with the weather set to be sunny the views should be good. It only costs £3 but be prepared to climb the 144 steps to the top! Children can climb the tower for free, but must be aged eight or over and accompanied by an adult. Please wear suitable footwear as the stairs are uneven. We've climbed it ourselves several times and it's certainly an experience! The tower is 132 feet tall and is the third highest in Norfolk.

Whilst you're there, see if you can find the bolt mark on the west corner of the tower. Bolt marks were made to mark the measurement above the surface and height above sea level. According to an old book we have from 1863, this one was 2’6” above the surface and 22’6” above sea level. Wonder how far it is above sea level now?

There are several other bolt marks locally. Mostly on churches and lighthouses.

Even horses need a holiday! This is further up the coast at Holkham which is a beautiful beach to visit, plus Holkham Hall is nearby. It's about 1hr 20mins drive from Winterton (but worth it) - nearer from our Happisburgh properties which takes about an hour.
