Ever feel like you want to get into nature but in the height on modern luxury?

Our answer: Brook. Our off-grid cabin but with the comforts you’d expect from a hotel room or high end cottage.

Massive windows give you light and views from everywhere. A king-size bed, perfectly set up for long lie-ins with the sights and sounds of nature flowing in. There’s a kitchen area behind the bed, so you don’t have to go far for a morning cup of tea. Your indoor bathroom has a flushing toilet and hot running water but you’ll be face to face with the elements when you take a shower, it’s open air and you will be sharing it with the trees that grow through the structure - I don't know a hotel room where you can do that!

Happy Birthday to me! This month marks the start of my 4th decade on this planet. It's got me feeling rather nostalgic about the last ten years.

When I turned 30 I was single childless and living between a ski resort and a van ( and was pretty wild tbh)

I hadn't imagined I'd live in the woods, I had no idea I wanted to build an off-grid glamping business, I knew close to nothing about foraging and I cooked in pretty conventional way.

I'm so grateful for all the beautiful souls who've become part of my life over the last 10 years and the ones I've brought with me from before. I'm also grateful to those who stood in my way - there's nothing quiet like facing dragons to show you what you're made of!

So.. keep dreaming folks, you never know what's around the corner.. you have to have a dream for it to come true.

Can you believe how spacious it is inside our Nova Dome tents? The beams are inflatable which means no centre pole making plenty of space for a kingsize bed. Lush!

And once that wood burner is on it's sooooo cosy!

🌳 Immerse yourself in the beautiful surroundings of The Lazy T by heading off on a walk from your door guided by our hand illustrated map.

Only 2.4miles from The Lazy T is the impossibly quaint village of Rievaulx. Amongst the traditional thatched cottages looms the Cistercian Rievaulx Abbey.

It a gorgeous 4 mile loop from your door and you can enjoy half time refreshment at the Abbey's cafe.

We have amazing walks! 🥾

Both from the door but also a short drive (or on your way) is Sutton Bank, one of the visitor centres. There's miles of walking and cycle trails, the centre has a cafe, gift shop, toilets and lots of info about conservation in the area.

There's also bike hire kbikes electric and non-electric bike hire if you feel like taking on the the graded trails or pump track.

But honestly THE VIEWS - just stunning!

Secret Valley Cottage:
Our on grid option. It has wifi, heating and is dog friendly. Located next door to the hosts it is slightly less secluded than the others but the access is more direct with parking adjacent and once you walk out of the french doors at the back, into your private garden and listen to the stream trickle by, you’ll feel like you’re the only ones on earth.

It has a kingsize bedroom with an ensuite shower room and access to the back garden, separate kitchen/dining/living area.

Visit our very own Microbrewery

The best and cheapest pint in town, great atmosphere, friendly staff and a covered heated outdoor area round the back. They're also a cosy woodburner in the bar.

Extremely dog friendly!

They do take out in bottles if you'd prefer to bring it back to the Lazy T, or even take a taste of Helmsley home with you.

At weekends there's also a speakeasy cocktail bar upstair where Salv will knock you up some of his dreamy concoctions.

Creekside is our newest site. It’s located next to the carpark with a gravel ramp up to the bridge. There’s wide entrances and no steps across the whole site for easy access.

There’s a super sized deck which includes a covered seating area, so you can enjoy the outside space whatever the weather.

There’s all our usual features, kingsize bed with high quality linens, indoor and outdoor fires. Private bathroom with piping hot shower and flushing toilet. Private cooking facilities with gas double burner, 66l fridge and hot running water.

Take down the manmade barriers and snuggle up next to nature. Sleep under canvas, let the sound of the stream carry your stress away and the sounds of the woodland calm and connect you with the present moment.

This spacious 5m dome tent has inflatable beams so no centre pole, giving maximum head room. Snuggle up in the kingsize bed with the wood burner crackling in this unique and comfortable space.

The whole site is on a raised deck so although you can lose yourself in the woodland surroundings right next to the stream, you’ll never get muddy feet.

🌏✨We are located in an international Dark Sky Reserve, so we are officially one of the best place IN THE WORLD to see the night sky 🌎 ✨

Today marks the start of 9th North York Moors Dark Skies Festival. It on till the 25th Feb. There are tons of fabulous night (and a few day) time activities to experience and learn more about those glorious sparkles in the sky.

Outside the tent there is a covered camp kitchen with a gas double hob, under counter fridge and running hot and cold water. There is a covered outdoor seating area with a fire pit. Flushing toilet and hot shower are located next door to the kitchen.

The whole site is on a raised deck so although you can lose yourself in the woodland surroundings right next to the stream, you’ll never get muddy feet.

Hands up who's stayed in Brook before?!

In Brook you will experience being off-grid but with the comforts you’d expect from modern luxury. The massive windows give you light and views from everywhere. Last year we were incredibly blessed to have the amazing Anna Purna Mellor visit us and shoot our little place for an amazing opportunity to be featured in a book commissioned by Trust . The book came out earlier this year and I'm just so overwhelmed to be included in such a special collection of wild places - the book is "Wild Escape" written by . I'd like to extend a big huge thank you to everyone involved in the making of this book. Particularly Annapurna and Sian. And a special thank you to who introduced us.

Super excited for our collaboration today with Boutique Camping .

They supply us with these beautiful Nova Dome tents. The genius design with inflatable beams means there's no centre pole, which means there so much space inside, perfect for a kingsize bed and wood burner and still room to swing a cat. It truly is

I absolutely love staying in the tents, maybe even more than the cabins because the sounds of the stream and the woodland mean you can feel so connected to nature without having to compromise on luxury.

SPRUCE TIPS 🌲 In the spring time spruce trees produce new tips, they start out as little lime green soft bobbles on the tip of each branch they then grow into these lovely soft feathery ends before going darker, woodier with agro spikes. 5 year ago I was banging on to the head chef at work about these cabins I wanted to build. And here I am showing him, my most influential kitchen mentor, and his family round. (He was also the one who took me for my first forage!!) Collectively they are @homestead_goathland. Family run Restaurant and holiday cottage a stones throw from the coast - definitely worth a visit, the food and views are spectacular!!
