The coast path at the moment is just 👌

If you could smell this picture, there would be notes of coconut from the sun warmed yellow gorse flowers, cut grass, slightly damp earth from the dew slowly evaporating in the heat of the morning. All the thrift, campions, daisies, foxgloves, violets and many other flowers I can't name wafting on the breeze... The grasses have a scent I associate with being a primary school child and rolling down the hot grass banks in summer terms. Underneath all that, is the salty tang of the sea!

Feels like summer is juuuuust in reach now the lifeguard hut is here! It got delivered a week ago on a beautiful sunny day and oh my gosh were we ready for it!

Where's your favourite beach for summer? I think I have different ones for different seasons.

Happy Bank Holiday Monday!

Pity the skies aren't this blue today, but it's been such a lovely weekend so far. Feels like summer is just around the corner, and we will be spending more time outside exploring or just relaxing in the sunshine!

Have you been here?

It's very close to where one can get on a boat to Skomer and see the puffins, Manx Shearwaters, Guillemots and Razorbills, among other wildlife.

There is an awesome cafe/restaurant close by which has excellent coffee and delicious mains...

One summer, it looked like the rocks were steaming like a volcano: they were hot from the sun and made the sea spray evaporate. Magical.

Its 30 minutes drive from Nolton Haven Mill and if you are on holiday with us for more than a few days, we recommend a visit. Walking along the path with an ice cream in hand is also an excellent way to soak in the view.

Do you recognise the beach(es)?!

To me, neither feel like a UK beach. The colour and feel of the soft sand and the way the cliffs at the back are covered in vegetation feels more like a tropical island paradise...

Let's talk about beds...

We've had quite a few people say how comfortable our beds and bedding are recently. A handful of guests have now bought the same mattress as it was the best night's sleep they'd had in years!

In the Mill House we can make the beds up so you have two super kings, or one super king, and two doubles.

Let us know too, if you have teens who would like their beds as far away as physically possible...

We want you to have the best holiday, exploring all the delights Pembrokeshire has to offer and not sweat the small stuff.

Who else wants to live in the house on the left?

Pembrokeshire is so different north to south, east to west. Geographically, botanically, linguistically and also the wildlife: different birds are found in the north to the south.

It's fun to keep exploring!

Bench with a view!

Can you name the beach? It's one of our favourites to visit. Only 10 minutes from Nolton Haven in the car, or a lovely stomp along the Pembrokeshire Coast Path. It's almost 2 miles wide so even in summer, you can find a spot where your dog/family/children (delete as appropriate) won't embarrass you in front of other beach goers.

There is a gentle slope so it stays nice and shallow for paddling. It's well known for watersports so there are usually surfers, swimmers, canoes, kayaks, windsurfs, kite surfs or the odd sailing dinghy to watch in the water and land yachts playing on the expanse of sand.

Happy Bank Holiday Monday!

We hope you've all had a lovely Easter weekend and it's sunny with you today?!

The sun has finally arrived in Pembrokeshire so we've been out exploring and went back to Cwm yr Eglwys. Never managed to be here with blue skies before so here's one for the grid! First outside ice-cream of the year sat in the sun while looking at the beach. Many more to come!

Beautiful Broad Haven.

10 mins drive from us, it's a lovely easy access flat beach with two large carparks, two toilet block facilities and multiple places to eat. Our favourites are Off The Hook (gluten free fish and chips!) and Sand and Stone who have the best burgers! Ice cream for the kids (big and small) and coffee from the Ocean Cafe completes our day.

If you time it right and there is a low tide you can walk around to Little Haven via the sand rather than along the road.

It's such a lovely walk along the coast path from Nolton Haven to Broad Haven. We've always got distracted and found things to look at and play with along the way or at Druidstone, but it probably takes about an hour and a half!

What do you love most when on holiday?

We love hearing from guests, knowing we've been a small part of making memories.

The peaceful moments curled up around the fire, the Christmas dinners and celebrations around the table.

The first holidays as a couple or a family, newly married, newly divorced, seeking adventure and solace. Friends who holiday every year together, who talk and laugh until their cheeks and sides hurt. Guests who just really, desperately needed a break away from the day to day to breathe, relax and reset.

Families who inspire us to do more, explore more, who have seen more (it feels like) of our little corner of Wales than us.

Those who return after years away, chasing memories of their childhood: playing on beaches, collecting shells, rockpooling and running in and out of the sea, looking for the familiar in the shape of the headlands.

Quick walk in the sunshine today between Newgale and Nolton Haven:

The sun was casting cloud shadows across the sea, the birds were hunting for materials to build their nests and playing in the wind. Groups of friends and dog walkers scattered across Newgale were pops of colour, their shadows dancing as they moved in the sunlight.

All was right.

Dydd gŵyl Dewi hapus!

Happy Saint Davids day! There have been so many events happening locally today, and there lots more planned for the weekend. We left some daffodils out to welcome our guests. It felt only right.

We've had snow on the Preselis overnight, and rain, hail ans sunshine today. What a start to March!

It's been a while since we last did a walk around Caerfai and St Nons. We thought we would add in a small circular walk around the coast path from Caerfai and into St Davids. We unexpectedly also had a look in at the Cathedral too. The Chapel is only 15-20 mins walk from St Davids. During the summer, St Davids can be bustling, but in January there weren't many other people around. Still enough cafés open for a hot drink and a cake though!

The new chapel is so small and sweet, just off the coast path, exposed to the elements. The original is in ruins with a quaint well where legend has it St David was born.

Friends are bored by how much we talk about the light in Pembrokeshire... but even on grey days, the sky feels lighter here than other places we've lived or visited.

The number and size of windows in the living area at Ty'r Felin really helps with this too. This is the view from the sink after putting the kettle on or after grabbing a cold one from the fridge.

You can watch the kids and dogs run around outside or just curl up on the sofa with a good book and watch the weather come in from the sea.

Dare you plunge under the waterfall??

The walk from Nolton to Druidstone Haven is a lovely 30 minute jaunt along the coast path from the cottages. At this time of the year it is usually pretty deserted whichever time of day, whatever the weather.

If you time the walk with low tide, there will be swathes of soft peach sand, interesting pools of water and at the far end, this sweet little waterfall. We've found all sorts of sea life on the beach from starfish to crabs.

The walk down from the road can be icy when cold as there is a stream that runs along the path.

It is easy to extend the walk on to Broad Haven and Little Haven or to walk back along the road for a shorter circular walk.

We've been at Druidstone in all seasons, and it seems to be one of those beaches people forget about. Maybe it's the lack of public parking or amenities?

Pretty unusual to have snow settle in Pembrokeshire let alone two snow days off school. The sun has been shining but the snow is sticking around. There have been so many pretty pictures of the beaches covered in snow.

This room in Ty'r Felin is always full of light. It gets both morning and evening sun at this time of the year. The patches of sunlight and shadow always invite me in on changeover days. It's calm and restful and hopefully, you find it the perfect place to relax and unwind too.

There have been so many gorgeous sunsets here of late, so sharing this calm one from Solva last week.

There were people at points along the coast path and road near me just silently drinking it in or pausing along their walk to say 'look at that, isn't it breath taking?!'.

The gardens and hedgerows are waking up and showing their colour here, competing with the bright berries still in the trees and bushes. The blue skies and sunshine have been a welcome rest from rain.

We were so delighted to see St Governs Chapel as the location for the latest BBC adaption of Philip Pullman's third book in his Dark Materials trilogy.

Christmas has arrived in Nolton Haven Mill.

Wreaths are being hung, Christmas trees are being decorated, baubles upon baubles and twinkling lights everywhere.

We've had a number of guests celebrating their birthdays with us over the past few weeks so have put off decorating for Christmas until now. When do you put them up?
