Hello all friends and followers. I’m sure most of you already know that I no longer holiday let the cottage. It has been an absolute pleasure over the years. I’ve met so many wonderful people who will always remain very good friends and mean a lot to me. The village is ever changing but this area and the people here are truly special. I have been very fortunate and privileged to be part of it over the years. Best Wishes with all holiday and future plans 😊❤️ Rosemary xx

Busy busy busy!! Third clutch of eggs being laid in the kitchen nest by the back door. 2 successfully fledged nests of blackbirds already out in the world 😊🪺🪺🪺

Lovely seeing the parent birds feeding their young :) the nest is next to the kitchen door in the ivy. .. how do those huge chicks fit in!!!?

The breeding season lasts from early March to late July, and chicks are often found in a nest well into August. Find out more

Fascinating tactics to increase the curlew population

The highly laborious behind the scenes of dummy egg creation.

Dummy eggs are important egg substitutions when we are taking eggs from an uncompleted clutch. This is so the curlew continue to lay the full clutch before properly failing and allow us to remove eggs so they are no longer susceptible to predation.

Run by The Campaign for Wool, there is a month long celebration of all things wool.

⭐️ We don’t think there is anything better than the beautiful fleece of the Wensleydale Longwool, with its glorious lustre, kemp free and as soft as butter - it is both desirable by crafters in lock form and spinners and then knitters when spun

⭐️ We have lots of great members doing brilliant things with their Wensleydale wool and fleeces, feel free to post below and we will try to showcase them over the next month on our socials.
