Next Weekend, 30th/31st July, the fastest race on the water as SailGP hits the Plymouth Sound for it's second year running, with 9 teams competing over an action packed weekend!

The thrilling racing across the water will see the following international teams compete: Canada and Switzerland are new additions, joining the existing teams from Australia, Denmark, France, Great Britain, New Zealand, Spain and the United States.

SailGP races for a better future, championing a world powered by nature. The world’s most thrilling race on water, expect to see national teams battling in short, intense races. The high-tech, high-speed action features sailing’s best athletes racing in identical hydro foiling F50 catamarans, flying at speeds approaching 100 km/h.

Last year, tens of thousands of spectators watched the spectacle, enjoying the amazing views offered by the natural amphitheatre of Plymouth Sound.

In 2022, as well as continuing important conservation and development work as part of the new Plymouth Sound National Marine Park, the city will also sign SailGP’s Climate Action Charter, committing to local impact projects that focus on clean energy impact and wider ocean conservation.

SailGP has been measuring, reducing and contributing its entire carbon footprint since 2019. It has now set an ambitious target of 55 per cent reduction of its carbon footprint – based on science – by 2025, as well as committing to being fully powered by nature by 2025 on shore and on the water.
