On a trip to the coast last week for a walking holiday we saw this large colony of seals basking on the rocks at Ravenscar. A beautiful spot and a fantastic sight - only a 2 hour drive away.

Spring has finally returned to Coverdale after a short break. This was my walk today around Bishopdale and Wensleydale - the sun was out and the views were glorious.

The Flying Scotsman made a guest appearance on the Carlisle to Settle Railway this week, witnessed by one of our guests, who kindly sent us this photo. It was to celebrate the reopening of the Carlisle to Settle line after part of it had been closed due to a landslide last year. For those of you who haven't travelled on the line, it is very picturesque and well worth a trip, even when there aren't steam trains.

Snow in Spring - today we have a full covering of snow in Coverdale, but the daffodils are still bursting through!

We have thought for some time that it would be a good idea to offer our guests the chance of having locally produced meals to enjoy in their holiday cottage without having to venture out. With this in mind we are happy to announce that we have arranged with Kimberley Brereton of the 'Little Yorkshire Kitchen', to offer locally sourced, home-cooked meals for our guests.
