🌹 The mystery of who sends Anne Boleyn flowers, is finally solved 🌹

🌹 A curious and beautiful tradition persists every 19th May, when a bunch of red roses arrives by taxi at the Tower of London.

Mystery has always surrounded the arrival of the flowers - which have been sent anonymously to the Tower every May 19th, since at least 1850.

🌹 The bouquet solemnly arrives, is collected by a Yeoman Warder, and placed on the memorial slab for Anne Boleyn.

No member of the public is normally allowed into this part of the chapel royal outside of services - unless as part of the popular tours of the Yeoman Warders, when the altar area is respectfully roped off.

🌹 The high degree of anonymity of the sender of these flowers, has always been a mystery.

Historians, Tower staff and thousands of visitors have been intrigued by the tradition, but until now, nobody has been able to discover who was sending the annual bouquet to the chapel where Anne is buried.

🌹 The bunch that is sent every year, comes from an “undisclosed firm of trustees”and always is accompanied by a card which reads quite simply,

“Queen Anne Boleyn 1536"

The memorial roses are only removed after they have wilted, however, other flowers are also left by private individuals.

🌹 A former Director-General of the Tower of London, was intrigued by the story.

After years of painstaking research, Maj. Gen. Chris Tyler, traced the origin of the flowers back to Kent, where relatives of the Boleyn Family still live.

The family are now called Bullen rather than Boleyn, who reluctantly admitted, that the flowers came from them.

🌹 Gen. Tyler eventually won the trust of the intensely private Bullens, and a group of family members accepted his invitation to visit the Tower.

There, they got to see where Anne was imprisoned, where she died, and the place she was buried.

🌹 So the mystery of who sends Anne flowers has finally been solved.
It's sad in a way, as the mystery of the roses added to the allure of the woman who has kept us all enthralled for centuries.

The allure that enthralled a king, the allure that was Anne Boleyn.

The ceremony of the Order of the British Empire took place at St Paul’s Cathedral yesterday the 15 th of May. The order was started by George V the Queens grandfather in 1917, he felt in WW1 there were not any distinctions for non military people. The two top levels are Knight Commander and Knight Grand Cross which gives the knights the title Sir or Dame. Hence Dame Maggie Smith and Dame Judi Dench.

Hever Castle the former home of Queen Anne Boleyn executed at the Tower, later gifted to Queen Ann of Cleves who Henry didn’t fancy and lived a long life and came to be known as the Kings best sister !

Dating back to the 14th century, Hever Castle was once the childhood home of Anne Boleyn.

Today, much of what you see is the result of the remarkable efforts of William Waldorf Astor, who used his fortune to restore and extend the Castle in the early 20th century.

The Cathedral of Wi******er is so beautiful and stunning and under visited. Started in 1073 and finished in the reign of Henry VIII in 1523. Very undamged by the Puritans who wanted to demolish it but opposed by the towns people. Burial place of early kings of Wessex and the author Jane Austin who spent her last weeks in Wi******er. ******er ******ercathedral

Beautiful view on Buckingham Palace from the blue bridge in St James’s Park . It has just been announced that King Charles and Queen Camilla will not move in until after major renovations are finished in 2027. Meanwhile they are happily living at Clarence House their home since 2002.
