Our activities are focussed on exploring parametric design methods to generate appropriate solutions to visual communication problems. Paul McNeil is a typographic designer with over 30 years’ experience working in corporate brand communications and visual identity for the UK telecommunications, government, public and charity sectors. He currently works as a Senior Lecturer in Postgraduate Design

at the London College of Communication (LCC) and Course Leader, MA Contemporary Typographic Media. [email protected]

Hamish Muir was co-founder of the London-based graphic design studio 8vo (1985–2001), and co-editor of Octavo, International Journal of Typography (1986–92). He is co-founder and art director of Outcast Editions, an independent publisher of high quality digital books on contemporary architecture and design.

The MMcN Type Collection comprises 534 fonts across 28 type families. Featured here: Diode; TwoBit; FourPoint; Stem; Worm; Cut.

The Five system is one of a series of stencil type families first published by MuirMcNeil in 2017. It was extensively revised in 2021 in three different contours, each in two widths, two optical weights and in positive and negative versions. Instead of assembling glyphs from a minimal set of strokes in the conventional manner, Five has been built around a system of internal spaces that are reduced to thin white lines.

TwoBar Mono

TwoBar Mono is a monolinear, monospaced type system in nine weights. A robust and efficient typeface, TwoBar Mono is also compatible with MuirMcNeil’s Two System. All Two typestyles and weights are designed to interact with one another in precisely calibrated layers that can be interlocked to generate an enormous range of visual options .
