Our mission is to change the way we think and act about ageing. We know that our population is getting older, people are living longer, the cost of care is rising and the state is struggling to provide the services people require. We work with companies to help them manage their ageing workforce. We help them empower employees to make proactive decisions earlier in life that avoid the crisis situa

tions that bring financial and emotional strain to them and their families. We do this by providing practical and impartial information, action steps and recommended resources on subjects that affect people later in life. For example, our employee platform AgeingWorks.com includes comprehensive guides to everything from dementia warning signs to equity release to downsizing and adapting the home for independent living. We want to ensure that people are made aware of the best options that are available to them and give them the tools and knowledge that help them make the best decisions. The final stages of life are so important - As relatives, we want to make sure our loved ones are as comfortable as they can be in their last days. This BBC article outlines that many hospitals are not doing enough to give the highest quality end-of-life care. This needs to change.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-27406258

The care given to people dying in hospital is "deeply concerning", according to doctors who have carried out a review of standards in England.

Chocolate fiend Mike, has pledged many things, but his biggest challenge over the 30 days is to give up chocolate! Mike used to eat chocolate on a daily basis so he is hoping that the 30 day challenge will help him to kick his daily addiction and cut down on the amount of chocolate he consumes.

A simple walk to the shops isn't as simple as it used to be, as the confectionery shelf tauntingly tempts him as he walks by... Hang in there Mike, you're doing great!

Pledge month update!!
Seeta has pledged to drink a fruit/veg smoothie 4 times a week.

She started this week with a blend of 1 ripe banana, a handful of kale leaves, a cup of almond milk and splash of water!
Verdict: "Delicious, the banana makes it sweet and easy to drink! Bananas are full of natural energy too so it's a great start to the morning."
Seeta has also pledged to run 3 times a week in an effort to be more active and train for the '5K Cancer Research Race for Life' she is doing in July.
You're doing a great job Seeta! Keep it up!

When Ron Husband started to forget things - it took a while for his family to realise that this was a different kind of forgetting. In fact, it was just the first sign of the dementia that gradually took him away from them.

It has been a week since we started our pledges! Lisa Ansell has been an inspiration to us all by sending us a photo of her taking on the challenge with great pride!

Lisa had pledged to start the 'Couch to 5K' run in an effort to be more active and keep fit. She ran 6 out of 7 days this week AND went on long walks as extra activity - Amazing!

Well done Lisa, we're proud of you, keep up the great work!!

(The "Couch" to 5K run is an NHS running plan that can be taken on by people of all ages and fitness levels - Read here for more information: http://www.nhs.uk/Livewell/c25k/Pages/couch-to-5k.aspx)
