Looe is one of the best places in Cornwall to spot wild seals and they are truly an amazing sight to see! But it’s really important to know what to do if you come across one.

The most important thing is to leave them alone and not get too close.

Disturbing seals when they’re on beaches can mean they can’t sleep or digest their food properly, or mothers and pups could be separated from each other. It’s also dangerous for people or dogs to get too close to them, as seals have a painful bite.

The best thing to do is to move slowly and quietly, paying attention to any signs up on the beach. Always keep at least 100 metres away - that’s about the same length as a full-sized football pitch. Use binoculars to watch them, and keep dogs on a lead or leave them at home if you can. NEVER PUT A SEAL PUP BACK INTO THE SEA

Ok so it's January and I know we're all a little skint after the festive period, but we're asking you to check behind the sofa, empty your pockets and rummage in your car centre consoles for any amount you can spare for this cause. Most of you won't be aware of Vincent's mobility issues so this is a BIG challenge for him. Not only will it raise money to fund his volunteering expedition to Kenya, it will be doing something great for our oceans along the way.
