We had wonderful hot, sunny weather all of June and only a few cm of rain for 3 months (April, May and June). Island View guests walked, swam, kayaked, BBQ'd, explored the islands and relaxed in the garden. This week is changeable with hot sun and then showers but always stunning views. A friend took these photos with their drone.

Our guests had lovely sunny weather and enjoyed watching the hedgehog and hoglet in the garden. They also saw a white tailed eagle really close sitting on a rock. They got a magnificent view of it as it took off.

There is always plenty to do here on the Isle of Seil- whether that is walking, cycling, visiting nearby islands, watching the wildlife, the fishing boats or the world go by. We have had spectacular displays of Northern Lights over the last few weeks. One evening, for one and a half hours we watched red and green lights dancing across the sky in curtains over a vast expanse of sky. There is more solar activity at the moment so there is more chance of seeing them. We have 3 weeks available in April before the busy season so come and hopefully see the Northern Lights in this dark sky area with no street lights to interfere with the visibility and witness the return of the swallows and hear the cuckoos. In January we had snow but these last 10 days it has been glorious sunshine and warm when much of the UK is under snow. Fantastic walking and photography conditions. I have enjoyed watching the male Hen Harrier flying above the hill behind Island View.

There is so much to do when staying at Island View, whatever the weather. That may be hiking, cycling or just relaxing watching the wildlife in the large garden or watching the amazing view change from moment to moment. Evenings can be spent star gazing, perhaps seeing the Northern Lights or eating at the pub where the chef was on Masterchef- The Professionals!

Cycling is a wonderful way to see Scotland. There are hundreds of trails near to Island View. These range from challenging off road tracks to cycling the cycle paths or quiet, local roads on the small nearby islands, stopping to eat local seafood or watching the wildlife. In the evenings, relax by the cosy wood burner or bbq on the deck looking at the sea view at Island View. There is secure bike storage and it is a perfect place to relax after a day of cycling

One of our guests enjoyed seeing all the animals in the large garden..including the hedgehogs and 'fecent' (pheasant)!

This pheasant is so inquisitive. Our guests are loving seeing it up so close. The bluey coloured feathers around it's neck and the many browns on it's back are magnificent. The heron meanwhile wanders around the garden which reinforces our decision to keep Island View as a pet free self catering cottage so that our visitors can enjoy so much wildlife in the garden and be assured the house is always allergy free.

A Minke whale and calf have been around Seil for the last few weeks. Sealife Adventures run trips every day and from Island View it is a short walk to where you embark. Here are some photos of the whale and it's calf and also amazing photos of the dolphins taken recently.

LITERALLY AS OUR NEW GUESTS ARRIVED A GOLDEN EAGLE WAS FLYING OVERHEAD! Sadly this isn't my photo- it wasn't that close! I hope our guests see more and the sea eagles during their 2 week stay.

STILL LIGHT AT MIDNIGHT ON MIDSUMMER'S EVE! You can read a newspaper or still enjoy the view after midnight- how lucky we are! Last night was so quiet and peaceful and luckily dry!

Our 2nd set of guests left today. They said Island View has the best view of all the holiday cottages they have ever stayed in! The glorious weather meant they could sit out on the deck having their breakfast, lunch and supper and we rarely get midges up here so guests can fully enjoy the garden and views throughout the spring and summer.

Walking in the hills near Seil today, we spotted a huge sea eagle perched in a tree, a lapwing near its nest, a roe buck and lots of orchids. Fantastic views of Ben Cruachan and I enjoyed a cooling swim in the hill loch. So wonderful to be able to wild swim in the lochs and sea

It is a perfect day to enjoy the views from the deck at Island View or from the window seats in the large bedrooms with King size beds. There was a roe deer and pheasants in the garden yesterday. We have an offer on for the next 2 weeks in June at www.islandviewseil.co.uk

Our first guests last week saw Golden Eagles from the window at our holiday cottage, Island View. They also saw 3 otters nearby! They said they have never been so sad to leave a house as it is so comfortable and has spectacular views. We welcome new guests today and hope they have a wonderful holiday on Seil.
