This Sunday (September 29th) is the last of the month so it's both the Farmers' Market in Market Place and the Craft Fair at the Courthouse. The former starts at 9am, the latter at 10am - both finish by 1pm.

Otley Town Council invites you to Gallows Hill Nature Trail on Saturday, 28th September, from 10am to 3pm.

The event will include outdoor activities provided by Get Out More, make a cork map craft workshop, face painting, games, and wildlife spotting walks for all ages. Prickly Pigs Hedgehog Rescue will be there with an information stall and craft activities. There will also be a coffee stall will be available to keep you warm and refreshed.

It’s a great opportunity to enjoy nature and learn about Otley's wildlife, wrap up warm and we will see you there!

Before legendary Japanese composer Ryuichi Sakamoto passed away last year, he mustered the strength to have his final piano performance filmed and turned into the movie Opus. This tender performance by an all-time great is being shown at the Courthouse this Sunday (September 22nd) at 3pm.

For the 4th year running Otley will host the exciting and ever-growing Wildlife Arts Festival from Friday 25th – Sunday 27th October.

As always, the core of the festival is the free exhibition of wildlife art and photography at Otley Courthouse from 10am until 4pm on the Saturday, plus a variety of stalls by local wildlife organisations. The festival showcases local talent whilst engaging people with the wonderful world of wildlife.

Each year the festival has grown in both scope and size, with the organisers, local charity Wildlife Friendly Otley, really pushing the boundaries on what they can achieve to make it truly memorable.

The organisers are very excited about the two ticketed events on Friday and Saturday night. Friday brings award-winning author, journalist, and TV presenter Kate Bradbury to the Courthouse with an entertaining talk on how to create habitats for wildlife in our own gardens.

On Saturday the charity’s very own patron, George McGavin, is back by popular demand with a lively examination of the world of wildlife. George is the well known and loved television presenter, entomologist, and environmental campaigner. Booking for both evening events is now open at www.otleycourthouse.org.uk and costs £12 per ticket.

In addition to the ticketed events and exhibition, the festival will be running free talks, workshops, and other events for both young and old in and around the town. A poetry event ‘Wildlife in Words’ will take place at the Labour Rooms on Sunday 27th with a workshop at 2pm followed by a main event at 3.15pm. Otley Baroque is the concert series established by an international violinist Asuka Sumi to bring the finest Baroque chamber music to local communities since 2018.

On 25 September in the Parish Church, Otley Baroque invites the audience to an evening of peace and contemplation through music by J.S. Bach and his contemporaries.

James Rafferty started working in catering at 13 before taking on the lease of what is now Rafferty's Café (https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100059866374782) on Wesley Street at 17. That 'apprenticeship' has now paid off and Rafferty's is one of Otley's best-loved traditional cafés.
