Three years ago today, Granary Cottage welcomed its first guests under my ownership. In hindsight, probably not the best time to start a new business but hey-ho no one said it would be easy !!
Covid restrictions, cost of living and the new licensing legislation have been just a few bumps in the road.
Only through the support of my wonderful guests, friends and family has Granary Cottage grown into what it is today. Thank you all for your continued support - Kim

With a flurry of BBC Weather Watchers pictures this week I couldn’t be happier especially with the frosty image taken from the bridge as it was used tonight on BBC Country File.

I can never resist the opportunity of decorating Granary Cottage. As always, the outside is being taken care of by Mother Nature but this year I’ve had a little extra help with the inside from my mum Linda Newth who was kept busy during a recent visit with knitting pumpkins to help fill the lanterns.

Bookings are now being taken for 2024, book direct with me for the very best rates.

The Gaur Dam in all her glory - 08.10.2023

06/10/2023

Significant disruption to Scotrail services tomorrow (07.10.2023) as a result of the inclement weather.

⚠️ We've just caught up with our colleagues across the railway to discuss preparations ahead of very heavy and extreme rainfall, expected across the bulk of Scotland throughout tomorrow (7 October), and into Sunday morning.

As much as 180mm is possible in worst affected areas, covering western areas of Scotland, including Stirling, Perth, and Lomond, as well as surrounding areas. For context, over one month’s rainfall is expected to fall in a 24-hour period.

In preparation for this, the following services will be suspended on the network from 01:00 tomorrow until Sunday morning:
• West Highland line from Oban, Mallaig and Fort William.
• Helensburgh Central/Balloch to Dalmuir. Services between Dalmuir and Glasgow will operate.
• Highland Mainline between Perth and Inverness.

Customers should not travel on these routes as no rail replacement travel will be available.

Most other routes across our network will be affected by speed restrictions as a safety precaution meaning services may be subject to delay or cancellation.

Network Rail engineers will inspect the closed lines on Sunday morning for any damage and reopen them for customers as soon as possible.

If you're due to travel over the course of the weekend, please check your journey before you travel. We're asking customers to only travel where necessary, and to expect delays when doing so.

Our live Journey Check page will be kept up to date with the latest travel information. JourneyCheck.com/ScotRail

Customers whose journey has been cancelled or disrupted due to adverse weather this weekend can travel one day before or two days after the date on their ticket.

Customers can also apply for a fee-free refund on any unused tickets.
