BRIDLINGTON PARK AND RIDE AND LAND TRAINS TO RESUME ON SATURDAY

IT WILL RUN SEVEN DAYS A WEEK UNTIL THE START OF NOVEMBER

East Riding of Yorkshire Council has announced that the Bridlington Park and Ride bus service will start on Saturday (1st April) and will run until Sunday 5th November, seven days a week.

The Park and Ride site near South Cliff Holiday Park will be open from 7am – 8pm, and charges will apply between those times.

Transport links into town will start at 9.30am, times of the last bus back to the site will vary throughout the season.

The service, provided by the council, is operated by Stagecoach.

The car park, at South Cliff, has over 1,000 spaces, including 50 disabled spaces.

The bus picks up and drops off at the Park and Ride terminus and then drops off in front of South Cliff gardens and picks up across the road on the Harbour Top, and also runs to East Riding Leisure Bridlington during certain weekends, holidays and Bank Holidays.

The cost is £5.50 for all-day parking for all vehicles, including disabled drivers.

This cost includes transport into Bridlington and the return trip for up to five people.

Passengers can choose to travel on the Park and Ride bus or on a scenic land train.

Some short stay parking spaces are available for Park and Ride customers, at 50p per hour, in the South Cliff car park, allowing stays of up to two hours.

This fee does not include the cost of travel on the bus or land trains.

Here is the full list of prices for Park and Ride 2023:

£5.50 for all day parking and transport for up to five people on either the bus or land train (as last year)

£1.60 single ticket on the bus (if not parked) (Same price as last year)

£2.60 return ticket on the bus (if not parked) (Same price as last year)

£1.00 single ticket for concessionary pass holders (if not parked) (Same as last year)

£1.50 return ticket for concessionary pass holders (if not parked). (Same as last year)

The car park at South Cliff offers public toilets and covered waiting areas, and is monitored by CCTV.

The low-floor buses are all easy access, and offer an environmentally friendly and easy way into the town.

For an even more scenic route, passengers can choose to travel on the South Promenade land train and this cost is included in the Park and Ride fare.

The land trains run to Bridlington Spa.

Visitors to Bridlington can also travel on the north land train between East Riding Leisure Bridlington and Sewerby Hall and Gardens, stopping at Limekiln Lane and Bondville Model Village, running every 30 minutes.

BRIDLINGTON KITE FESTIVAL RETURNS FOR 2023 ON 20TH AND 21ST MAY

Some of the world’s largest inflatable kites will take to the skies above the cliffs of the East Yorkshire coast for the annual Bridlington Kite Festival this spring.

Taking place on Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st May 2023, kites of all descriptions, sizes and colours will take to the air for two days of aerial displays over Sewerby Fields.

Year on year, internationally renowned experts return to the East Yorkshire coast to provide spectacular displays for thousands of spectators over the weekend.

Alongside the kites, there will be food and drink stalls, fairground rides, face painting and children's entertainment, making it an action-packed, fun-filled festival for all the family.

There will be professional demonstrations and visitors can get involved, with kites available for loan during supervised sessions.

Organised by the Visit East Yorkshire Events Team, the festival is one of several major events across East Yorkshire each year that helps to boost the local economy.

The event is held in partnership with The Northern Kite Group, which formed in 1978, and has members across the country.

The festival will run from 10am-5pm both days and is free to attend. Visitors can arrive on the land train which runs between Sewerby Hall & Gardens and East Riding Leisure Bridlington every half an hour.

Adam Toes, tourism events manager at East Riding of Yorkshire Council, said: “Bridlington Kite Festival has become an event we really look forward to hosting in East Yorkshire.

“The Northern Kite Group always put on a packed programme of kite flying activities from kites dancing to music to synchronised displays.

“It promises to be a weekend of fun for all the family, bringing happy smiles to faces and a lot of memories to share.

"And don’t forget it is a free event.”

For those who love a fun fact about kites, the event’s website has plenty of information to get you in the mood for the festival.
