Such a special couple who married at Vicarage House seven years ago. Happy Anniversary and Andy. They have a lovely baby together. What a beautiful capture. Mollie’s violin playing to complement the groom’s speech lives long in the memory.
Oh it all looks so peaceful . Don’t be fooled. The roof is being repaired and a huge ash tree which has been devastated by ash die back is being felled.

It had just stopped raining when we arrived to see Antony Gormley’s Time Horizon exhibition and to marvel at Dame Magdalene Odundo ceramics and other mediums. Ninety casts of Mr Gormley, placed around the estate, all looking in different directions but at the same level. What an ambitious project. Magdalene’s work is astonishing and I fell in love with her collaboration with Wedgwood. Is it a Jasperwear hat box or a wedding cake? Who cares. It was gorgeous.

Peonies from the cutting garden. Even the kitchen has fresh flowers. Later in the summer, cut flowers from the garden adorn all eight bedrooms. There are holiday homes and then there is Vicarage House Norfolk. In a very testing year, a few weekends/weeks in October are available including October half term.

There are holiday homes which provide two dishwasher pills for a week’s stay, a single loo roll in every bathroom and a gummed up dishwasher. And then there is Vicarage House Norfolk. It really is a cold one this week. By the weekend, we shall be back in double figures. Next week, a balmy 15 degrees!
Working with our wonderful, knowledgeable gardener Will yesterday. Even the sou gardener, aka me, had a spring in her step. A full day of sunshine and clear skies. What a day. Crisp and dry. The sous, sous gardener, aka Bolli, ran in ever increasing circles, chasing pheasants. Getting ready for our garden opening in September.

It is serendipitous that darling Bolli shares my mother’s birthday. She is one today and has been a joyful if crazily energetic addition to our lives. Bolli,short for Bollinger, is jam-packed full of love for her humans and doggie sister Dotti and cousin Gnoochi. She loves niece Truffle too. 🎂🎉
Dear Mum would have been 90 today. Gone for seven years, after a near twenty-year battle with Parkinson’s. Much missed by the family for her wisdom, directness and intelligence. With my father since they met at Guy’s Hospital aged 18. Married aged 24, parents at 25, grandparents at 49. Born in Panama, brought up in London and lived in Deal, Malta, Dorking and Beaconsfield once she married. Her talents were myriad, a beautiful singing voice, excellent seamstress, brilliant cook and baker, extraordinary linguist and with an unsurpassed breadth and depth of general knowledge. Passionate gardener and always elegantly dressed with the weekly trip to the hairdresser an essential part of her routine. She loved her grandchildren and celebrated each one
