The new pilot grant initiative from Galway City Council's Night Time Economy programme aims to diversify nightlife in the area and stimulate the economy by fostering a vibrant late-night café culture. The types of programming envisaged and encouraged are live performances, from local bands to intimate acoustic and DJ sets, spoken word and poetry, comedy, book clubs, workshops, and tastings to themed nights. The initiative also encourages programming that appeals to a youth audience, creating a welcoming and inclusive space for all.

The Café Lates Grant Funding can cover costs related to Artist Fees, Equipment Rental and Other Cultural Programming Expenses, with a Minimum Grant of €500 and a Maximum Grant of €2,000

A café in Galway City Centre and Salthill is eligible to apply and the timespan is from 6pm, Sep-Nov, 2024. Find out more information on how to apply here: https://bit.ly/3XY10cy

This is Tigh Neachtain Pub. One of Richard Martins many townhouses. A feared dulest, politician, and animal welfare activist. This fine townhouse would suit the Martins because they were only a stone throw from the first theatre that they set up in the town on Kirwans Lane.

Today marks two centuries since the animal welfare organisation - then the SPCA - was founded at Old Slaughter's Coffee House in London, by a London vicar, Arthur Broome, and 22 founding members, including the MPs William Wilberforce and Richard Martin.

Good moring, lovely day 😄. Hope you're all having a wonderful day wherever you are . Oh James Hardiman Hotel not Great Southern . My parents would of honeymooned there after their wedding. But yea now known after James hardiman who wrote the book on the History of Galway in the 1800s .
