Classiebawn Castle, Co. Sligo, 16th August 2024.
As I approached Classiebawn Castle on the Wild Atlantic Way, the rugged beauty of Ireland's coastline unfolded before me.
The castle stands majestically against the backdrop of Benbulben Mountain, its sandstone walls rising above the windswept landscape.
Dark clouds gathered overhead, apparently caused by the forest fires from across the ocean.
The clouds cast dramatic shadows across the castle's silhouette, while the Atlantic waves crashed fiercely against the cliffs below.
The sky's moody palette of greys and blues added an air of mystery and grandeur, making the scene feel like something out of a gothic romance, where history and nature converged in haunting beauty.

So, let's talk about Paul O'Donovan again. One of the true greats of Irish sport.

He has just won his SEVENTH World rowing title. Add that to his THREE Olympic medals - and the fact he is the first Irish sportsperson to medal at three different Games. The man was born to row and race and win. An incredible sportsman.

Paul's consistency is noteworthy, too; his first World title was in 2016 and here we are, in 2024, and he's still the best in the world. Whether it's in a single or a double, he dominates. He's a once-off. Just enjoy him.

Dún Aonghasa
is the majestic stone-age structure, best-known of several prehistoric hill forts on the Aran Islands of County Galway, on The Island of Ireland. It lies on Inis Mór, at the edge of a 100-metre-high cliff.

The fort consists of three massive drystone defence walls. Outside them is a chevaux-de-frise – that is, a dense band of jagged, upright stones, thousands in number. A devastatingly effective way to impede intruders, the chevaux-de-frise surrounds the entire fort from cliff to cliff.

Dún Aonghasa is over 3,000 years old. Excavations have revealed significant evidence of prehistoric metalworking, as well as several houses and burials. The whole complex was refortified in AD 700–800.

The Cathedral Church of St Colman (Irish: Ardeaglais Naomh Colmán), usually known as Cobh Cathedral,
The Diocese of Cloyne has its beginnings in the monastic settlement of St. Colman at Cloyne in East Cork. A round tower and pre-reformation Cathedral still stand at this site. Colman, son of Lenin, lived from 522 to 604 A.D. He had been a poet and bard at the court of Caomh, King of Munster at Cashel. It was St. Brendan of Clonfert that induced Colman to become Christian.
