Travel is all about stories; influenced by stories, inspired by stories and in search of stories…

We are privileged to meet, interact and listen to the stories of many from diverse cultures and across the globe, as they walk with Kabani.

On a beautiful day, Frank and Linda who lives in Kentucky, US, received a call, an invitation, to be part of a Big Indian Wedding in Kerala from a close friend. With only a few months to plan and get prepared, they started their research on sustainable travel options in Kerala and found us.

Challenged a bit by age and medical conditions but inspired by the indomitable spirit, Linda found a good friend to travel with them, in Melanie, a librarian and researcher. Bonded closely by friendship and faith, the three set foot on Kerala in a couple of months.

Their journey was not just through the land from Central Kerala to the North, but through people and communities, making deeper connections.

Total strangers, sitting on the opposite sides of the globe, a few days back, got connected for the rest of their lives…

Towards the end of the tour, at Madayippara, Kannur, they found evidences of a two thousand year old connection with their own community, the first Jewish settlement in Kerala.

We always enjoyed designing tailor made packages for senior citizens and organize it taking care of their safety and comfort.

A close circle of well trained, committed and experienced guides, taxi drivers and homestays providers plays a major role in making each tour a memorable experience for our elderly guests.

Age is just a number and it’s the mindset that matters …

Thirty years back, in the ‘90s 'Frank', now aged 75, heard about Kerala for the first time. He read about ‘Kerala model of Development’ and got interested in Kerala.

It took another twenty years for the second Kerala connection, Frank and his wonderful wife Linda got connected to a university student, originally from Kerala and developed a close bonding. They learnt more about this beautiful landscape, its people, the peaceful coexistence of different religious communities, spirituality etc;

After Ten more years, on a beautiful day, they were invited to attend her wedding in Kerala. With only a few months to plan and get prepared, they started their research on sustainable travel options in Kerala and found us.

July 28, Nature Conservation Day

2023 Theme: Forests and Livelihoods: Sustaining People and Planet

A day dedicated for awareness generation on the pressing need for nature conservation, save natural resources and prevent the depletion of resources for our future generations.

Working closely with farmers, indigenous communities, fisher folks, educators and conservationists, Kabani’s Community Based Sustainable Tourism programmes focuses on Nature Conservation and Empowering Communities to be Resilient.

In the context of climate change this day is becoming ever more relevant year after year.

Kabani tries to build awareness on conservation and create proactive impacts through our experiential tourism programmes and packages like ‘Kerala Natural Heritage Tour’, ‘Backwater Life Tour’, ‘Indigenous Life Tour’ etc;

When Yoga Rhythms walked with Kabani , Wayanad…

Walking Wayand, an experiential day long walk in the scenic villages of Wayanad, is a unique programme, to explore the landscape, interact with the skillful and enterprising communities and learn about the intricacies of the web of life.

When a group of enthusiastic and vibrant women of Yoga Rhythms by Salomi decided to get immersed in the Thrikkaipetta experience, the villagers made sure that the memories should stay with them forever.

The first-year bachelor architecture students at seed: APJ Abdul Kalam School of Environmental Design, Muvattupuzha ventured on a Walk with Kabani at Mamalakandam on Nov 18, 2022.

The trail with its stories & experiences of the land and its people was intended to sensitize the students on nature, outside and within themselves.

The sacred groves of North Kerala are reverberating with drum beats and the rhythmic steps of 'Theyyam'.

Nights are turned to days under the burning torches. Characters from the myths and legends are reborn to tell tales of sacrifice, revenge, comradery and bravery.

Theyyam, the ritualistic folk art form of Northernmost Kerala is a unique experience to feel the Socio-Cultural Heritage of this land, blessed with stunning natural beauty.

The Theyyam Experience organized by Kabani as part of the cultural heritage and socio-cultural tours in Kerala introduces the communities entitled to perform Theyyam, the myths and stories behind it, the intricate facial paintings and the social/caste system that it turns upside down for a few minutes in a year.

Story of Radhamani chechi, a proactive dedicated woman from the village Mothakara, Wayanad, Kerala. At a time when women from her village were reluctant to go out and visit the library, she went ahead with the idea of a travelling library. She successfully runs this library to the date, delivering books to the houses for women to read. Radhamani chechi is a vivid story teller of in our many programs and guides our guests through her village sharing its story.
