Triptee - The Taste of Himachal.
The Story: Built as a mud cowshed in 1987, this structure has stood the test of time. We used it for over 25 years as a cowshed and renovated few years back to what you now see in pictures. The ground floor now serves as a dining and kitchen for our in-house guests and the 1st floor has a spacious 1 room kitchen setup called Rachna.
Our in house kitchen is called
Triptee - The Taste of Himachal.
It churns out dishes to satisfy your taste buds and will definitely leave you wanting for more.

We specialise in Himachali cuisine with over 50 years of experience in preparing various himachali recepies.These age old recipes are not written anywhere but are passed on from one generation to another. Hence these are exclusive dishes and won't be available in the open market.
We have recently Re-innovated Triptee (kitchen and dining area) and now has a seating capacity of 25 People.

We woke up to a surprise with seasons 1st snowfall on the Dhauladhar range.
Though ,It's quite unusual to have snowfall this early in the season but we are not complaining.
Himachal is recovering and most road connectivity is back to normal. The route to Dharohar is open via Chandigarh - Mandi - Bir as well as Chandigarh - Una - Kangra - Palampur.
NH 154 (Pathankot - Mandi) is operating normally for all vehicular traffic.

Today is the 3rd consecutive day with sunshine and very little rain in between. We are safe here at Dharohar cottages and thankful to all who reached out to check on us. 🙏
Himachal is witnessing unprecedented rains and destruction in terms of lives, property and roads. Never have we witnessed this kind of destruction in many decades.We pray and hope for the safety of everyone. 🕉️

Dear All, Thank you for checking with us if we are fine. These pictures were clicked yesterday evening from our terrace after rain stopped after 3 days of very heavy rains.
We are all good here and today is a bright sunny day here.
There have been a lot of scary videos over the internet about the situation in Himachal. Yes , the situation was scary in Mandi, Kullu, Manali and adjoining areas.Rain has stopped now so the situation will improve. Authorities are doing everything possible to restore the roads, power and telecommunications. Please be patient 🙏
If you're trying to contact anyone in that region please understand that the power and telecommunications are down and may take some time to restore.
May the divine give strength to everyone to overcome this challenge 🕉️

Suhru-Ri-Dhar hike.!!
One of the most scenic places in this region is Suhru-ri-dhar.
If you love to go on hikes, you would be glad to know that there are plenty around Dharohar Cottages.
These scenes are captured at a nearby hill called Suhru-ri-dhar. You can either go for a 2 hour hike or go for a scenic drive of about 30 mins drive to reach this place.

Yahvi is an ideal setup for long or short vacations for couples or small families. The cottage comes with a private kitchen, washroom, outside sitting area, dedicated laundry area on premises and large open spaces all around the cottage.
For your work needs we have a 100 MBPS fiber line with power backup.
We also have an in-house cafe in case you wish not to cook and have meals with us.
Groceries and veggies are easily available at walking distance and transport is sorted as you can easily rent a scooty, can or use the public transportation.

The pictures depict the transformation journey of our main cottage from beginning to now.
Back in Jan 2020 , Just before the global pandemic, we started with construction of these units. Nobody knew that in just about 2 months there would be a total shut down across the world.
Well with God's grace and some excellent work by the Indian government, most of us did survive it to tell the story today.
So after a brief halt in construction of about 2 months we picked up pace again. It was already challenging to create something which is not being built around us and the pandemic made things even more challenging. There was a shortage of building material, hardware , sand , stone and the list went on and on.
It took us longer than we expected to finish the cottage by July 2021 and started hosting in Sep 2021.
Today this main cottage has 3 setups. Swara : 1 BHK set-up on the 1st floor and Bhumi and Yahvi are single room set-ups at the ground floor. Each unit comes with a private kitchen, sitting area and private entrance.

Paprola Baijnath Railway station: This picturesque station is located 2 kms from our home and is a part of Pathankot - Jonginder nager narrow gauge line.
Hop in for a joy ride to experience the majestic Kangra valley. You can either go towards Palampur or Kangra or in oppi direction towards Bir or Jonginder nagar.
Connectivity to Pathankot is stopped at the moment due to Broken bridge at Chakki Bank near Pathankot. However, the train is operational between Nurpur and Paprola Baijnath station as of now.

Dharohar is bird watchers delight. We are fortunate that a lot of birds visit us and have made their homes around our farms.
We have been able to capture pictures of more than 50 species of birds till now in and around our home.
Most often you wake up to bird songs by various species.

20 mins drive from Dharohar Cottages will bring you to Sherabling/Tai Situ Rinpoche Monastery also popularly known as Bhattu Monastery. This is perhaps the biggest monastery in the region. The setting couldn't be more beautiful with Dhauladhar in backdrop and the entire Valley in front.

Good News : Getting to Dharohar is even more convenient now with new Vande Bharat train service till Amb Andorra from New Delhi.
Amb Andaura is aprox 100 kms from Dharohar Cottages and takes about 3.5 hrs by road. Take a cab or hop on to public transport and enjoy the scenic road till our property.
