A volcanic eruption has started on the Reykjanes Peninsula.
The eruption is about 3,5 km long close to Sundhnúkar craters, north of Grindavik where evacuation orders have been in place. There are no disruptions to flights to and from Iceland and international flight corridors remain open.

The event itself is a much larger one then previous eruptions in this area in the last couple of years.
Under no circumstances should anyone attempt to approach it as strict road closures in the area remain in place.

We highly recommend this live stream video of the ongoing volcanic eruption in the Reykjanes peninsula. It is shot from a drone and provides a unique and fantastic angle of this amazing spectacle.

We could be looking at another volcanic eruption soon. 🌋

🇬🇧 Increased seismic activity in the Reykjanes peninsula. Stay away from mountains and slopes in the area due to danger of rockfall and landslides.
