➡️CURIOSITY ABOUT THE VENETIAN ARSENAL⬅️ The main entrance was either through the “Ground Door” or “Water Door”. The grounddoor, which still dominates the Arsenal square, was built in 1460 by the architect Antonio Gabello in the shape of a triumphal arch of classical inspiration. On its top there is a gable niche with a large winged lion, symbol of the Republic of Venice. In front of the beautiful entrance gate, first Renaissance monument in Venice, there are two guardians: two stone lions.🦁

The signs indicating the streets, fields and canals are called "nissioeti” (which in Venetian it means little sheets). In fact they resemble small sheets. (y)
They are written in Venetian dialect and their translation is very particular: a calle (street) can be dedicated to an ancient craft, a fact that happened there , a legend, a workshop.

I segnali che indicano le strade, i campi e i canali si chiamano "nizioleti" (che in veneziano significa foglietti), (y)
Sono scritti nel dialetto veneziano e la loro traduzione è molto particolare: una calle (strada) può essere dedicata ad un antico mestiere, un fatto che è accaduto lì, una leggenda, un laboratorio.

Bacino Orseolo (Sestiere of San Marco) is probably the most important stop for gondolas, as well as one of the most characteristic places of the city.
