The stunning details of Sri Lanka’s temples. The Makara (Or Dragon) arch pictured here is from the Aluvihare Rock Temple provides a stunning and colourful entrance into the temples image house.

This lesser-visited temple is hugely significant in Sri Lanka’s Buddhist history as it where the Tripiṭaka (philosophical doctrines of Buddhism) was transcribed for preservation and the use of future generations.

Did you know that places like heel oya are some of the only remaining examples of traditional Paddy Cultivation that exists in Sri Lanka? With the increased use of machinery, many farmers have logically switched to new methods of cultivation. However, with the challenging terrain, the process here is still done manually or with the help of a trusted buffalo!

We are happy to announce that vaccinated clients can once again travel without restrictions after only 1 night in a level 1 hotel.

1. You will need to confirm a booking with us, then apply for the Visa paying for PCR Tests & Mandatory Insurance.

2. You will need a negative PCR result 72 hours before departure, one more on arrival at their Level 1 hotel and another on day 7.

3. You will ONLY need to stay 1 night in a Level 1 hotel and will then be able to travel without restrictions!

Perched on the hills above Kandy, the Bahirawakanda Buddha Statue offer beautiful views over the city of Kandy and is a great stop during a tour of Kandy.
Did you know – Kandy was the last stronghold of the Sri Lanka kings and stayed independent for over 300 years of colonial rule? Looking down from the viewpoint you can see the natural fortification of the city with the Lake and mountains which helped make Kandy a stronghold of the Sri Lankan kings.

Poson is one of the most important Full Moon Poya Days for Buddhists in Sri Lanka. The day marks the introduction of Buddhism to the Island by Arahant Mahinda in the third century BC. It is believed the Great Arahant preached the Dhamma to King Devanampiyatissa, the then ruler of the country, in Mihintale.

Vesak is the holiest day of the Buddhist Calendar, where we celebrate the Birth, Enlightenment & Passing away of Lord Buddha. In Sri Lanka, this is a time for reflecting on the teachings of Lord Buddha and is celebrated by hanging beautiful coloured lanterns, creating large "Pandals" or illuminated illustrations on the life of lord Buddha and by sharing food to communities in the form of a "Dansala"- temporary alms stalls that distribute free food and drink.

In this time that we celebrate at home away from one another, We pray that you and your loved are safe and heathy.

Guests are allowed to go anywhere on hotel or resort premises and can visit certain pre-approved "bubble attractions" provided they follow strict criteria. They are also allowed to stay at more than one property during those two weeks as long as all the hotels are level one-listed." - Lilit Marcus , CNN
