Building the classic sailing yacht (schooner) QUADRA for sailing trips at sea for individuals or private groups of max. 6 persons on board.

In fall 2021 we have started the construction of the classic sailing yacht QUADRA. The design is based on the John Alden schooner Lelanta II / Lelantina. The hull was built over 30 years ago but never completed and was purchased by us in 2020. After completion of the construction, the QUADRA will offer sailing trips to up to 6 guests plus a permanent crew. Her sailing area will be worldwide. Start dreaming already…

It has been quiet for a while from our side, but that does not mean that we've been sitting still. On the contrary! The pipes for water and central heating and the drain pipes have been placed. In addition, the ventilation system has been finished and is now working. And in the workshop, the keel is nearing completion. In the meantime, the carpenter is also hard at work. The first photos of his work will be posted soon.

Dear friends who have transformed their sailing ship into a houseboat, have donated their wooden blocks to us. After the necessary sanding and varnishing, they will find a new home on the Quadra.

The Quadra is insulated on the inside. Great job by Keur Isolatie! That will make a big difference in temperature when carpentry is done this summer.

We've made a lot of progress again! All the framework for the walls has been installed, the windows have been fitted with teak frames, all electrical cables have been laid, ventilation ducts have been prepared and the prisms have been mounted in the deck. The insulation work can begin!

Nice, calm weather for our trip from Harlingen to Franeker today! Unfortunately we did not have enough time to get the Quadra ready to navigate on its own, so we were taken to Franeker by a tugboat. Work will continue there for the time being.

The steering is finished! Now we are continuing to work on connecting the motor to the diesel tank, cooling system and the engine controls, so that we can hopefully make a test tour soon.

We have been working hard on the Quadra again since the beginning of January. Important steelwork is being done to complete the engine room, such as installing exhausts, drains, etc. In addition, there is also a lot of steelwork that needs to be completed before the carpenters can start on the interior in the spring.

The new rudder for the QUADRA. It is only about 2/3 of the final total length. Due to the limited depth of the harbour where she will be moored the coming time, it is unfortunately not yet possible to hang the entire rudder behind the ship. So we have to do it with this now and extend the rudder later, at the same time when we extend the keel to its normal dimensions.
