VISITING NEPAL AND COVID-19

Now, when you have a PCR negative report all the tourists will get the Visa’s on arrival at Kathmandu international airport.

Only TOURISTS have to re-test for COVID-19 in Nepal, and once one has a negative report tourists only need to stay quarantine for 24 hours on arrival in Nepal.

Tourist COVID -19 PCR samples will be collected at the immigration office at the entry point, and results will be given within 24 hours by email or SMS.

Here is the Modified Protocol for travellers in Nepal.

01. VISA ON ARRIVAL The Visa-On-Arrival service shall resume from all air and land entry points to Nepal.

02. PCR REPORT All persons travelling into Nepal must obtain a COVID-19 Negative Report (RT-PCR/Gene Xpert/True NAAT or equivalent) within 96 hours before their departure from ‑the first point of embarkation Nepal. Children below 5 years are exempted of submitting such a report.

03. PCR RE-TEST All travelling into Nepal except Indian Nationals will need to retake a PCR test upon arrival to Nepal. The Swab Collection for the required passengers will be done at Tribhuvan International Airport, and the PCR Report will be sent via SMS/email within 24 hrs. Passengers with positive PCR results will be required to stay in quarantine as per the health protocol guidelines.

04. NEPAL-INDIA TRAVEL BUBBLE "Nepal-India Travel Bubble" agreement clauses will be applicable for all Indian Nationals traveling to Nepal.

05. ENTRY THROUGH LAND BORDERS The entry/exist points at the land borders will be opened. All travellers, including Indian and Foreign nationals coming via private and tourism vehicles through borders, will be allowed. Such visitors must have a COVID-19 Negative Report (RT-PCR/Gene Xpert/True NAAT or equivalent) within 96 hours of their departure.

08. TOURISM ACTIVITIES RESUMED All tourism destinations and tourism activities (hotel, restaurant, spa, rafting and night entertainment activities) will be operated following the prescribed guidelines and Health, Hygiene, Sanitation Protocol.

09. COVID CARE CENTERS To further facilitate tourists, hotels and hospitals can coordinate together and operate COVID Care Centres if felt necessary.

10. TRAVEL INSURANCE All passengers entering Nepal must have Travel Insurance.

11. DOCUMENTS REQUIRED OBTAINING VISA ON ARRIVAL FOR TOURISTS • Itinerary • Arrival date to Nepal • Travel Insurance • For Trekking purpose a valid trekking itinerary from registered Trekking agency in Nepal. For Group Travellers all other conditions remain as it is. • For Travel/Tour/Rafting, itinerary prepared by registered Travel/Tour/Rafting agency. • For FIT (Free Individual Traveller), a confirmed hotel booking is required. Regarding FIT Trekking purpose, a valid trekking itinerary, booking and guide/porter confirmation from registered trekking agency.

12. REGARDING TOURIST VISA Upon submission of the above documents, the Immigration Office to provide the Visa directly to the concerned.
