So terribly saddened by the destruction of Thame village by a glacial lake outburst flood. For some, the pictures may just show the loss of a picturesque mountain village, but for the Sherpas who live there it is a loss of their homes, their livelihoods and a part of their identity!

Unfortunately, those who have done the least to contribute to this man-made climate change are the ones facing the worst of the consequences. When will we learn that for many of us, the threats of Climate Change are not in some distant future but are already happening! Why do our voices always fall on deaf ears? And how is it fair that our remote mountain communities have to fend for ourselves in all of this?

In a rare climatic event, snowy lakes in the Khumbu region witnessed major outbursts, sweeping parts of the climbers’ village in the Everest region this afternoon.
