Swayambhunath, also known as the Monkey Temple, is one of the most iconic and sacred sites in Kathmandu, Nepal. Perched atop a hill west of the city, Swayambhunath is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and holds significant religious and cultural importance for both Buddhists and Hindus.

The site features a stupa adorned with Buddha's eyes and eyebrows painted on each side of the main tower, symbolizing the all-seeing nature of Buddha. Surrounding the stupa are numerous shrines, temples, and statues, as well as prayer wheels and colorful prayer flags.

Visitors to Swayambhunath can climb a steep staircase to reach the main complex and enjoy panoramic views of Kathmandu Valley from the top. The temple is also inhabited by a large population of monkeys, hence its nickname, and they add to the unique charm of the site.

Swayambhunath is not only a religious pilgrimage site but also a popular tourist destination, attracting visitors from around the world who come to soak in its spiritual ambiance, architectural beauty, and breathtaking views.
