Today’s the day folks! We launch our new software for the gym, Approach.
You will soon be able to creat your own profile with approach where you can sign waivers, creat household accounts and buy passes and memberships!
We’re still learning the ropes… of the new software and so please be patient with our members of staff as we iron out the implementation of it.
As we have a new system we will need all customers to sign new waivers. For the time being this will be done at the gym next time you come in! But we will let you know when this is available online for you to do at home.

I’m sure you know that this Saturday is global climbing day so this is a post to let you know what’s happening this weekend at Basecamp Adventures QT.
We’ll be hosting a fun comp again this Saturday but it’ll be slightly different from the previous with a mixture of rope and bouldering! there will be free gear hire all day and anyone can take part. The climbs will be taken from new ones set this week and old climbs already round the gym picked by our staff.
The aim of Global climbing day is to be a celebration of the climbing community so this won’t be serious at all. There will be some extra challenges that day also to have a go at and We’ll have some spot giveaway prizes available kindly provided to us by
So if you’re a complete beginner or an expert come and give it a go!

Our guide had an epic time snowshoeing up at the Remarkables in the last few days!
Our client was super lucky to witness a beautiful phenomenon called a Brocken Spectre during the tour, taking the experience to a whole new level!

This is an appreciation post for AKA Bock! She has been setting with us at basecamp since November and with a heavy heart it’s time for her to leave us and head back to the states!
She brought a lot of the routes you’ve loved since she started and helped kick start the climb nights on Fridays! She’ll be missed by everyone at basecamp, staff and members alike!
As she put so well in her last climb she set earlier this week… She’ll be Bock!

Come join us for a very interactive rescue course run by Queenstoen Climbing Club!
A four session clinic designed to build your rescue toolbox, including lead and multi-pitch skills, abseiling, lowering, raising and mechanical advantage. The course will be conducted at ground level until you can show competency - this is a course designed for people who already have an understanding of abseiling and lead climbing.

SLAB update!! the team at QT Basecamp have been talking and are going to trial the slab section of wall by including it in the main setting schedule.
It’ll be reset with the vert wall extending the set and bringing you more climbs further down the wall on the overhang section also!
We’re trying this out to bring more slab climbing in a range of difficulties for every one of all levels to practice and improve of their slab climbing. New set coming Wednesday!

There will be no ONO on Tuesday or new set on Wednesday, being pushed back to Thursday 2nd May being the strip and ONO and Friday 3rd May setting day.
To keep the climbs as fresh as possible for Saturday they will not be available to climb Friday evening so the bouldering section will be slightly limited to the back wall, cave and moon board. However you will still have full access to the sport wall!

A bird never afraid to say hello, the friendly pīwakawaka/fantail is one of our favourite birds to see out at the crag!
One of our common endemic birds, the "cheep-cheep" call can be heard by climbers all over mainland New Zealand.
We love this playful bird so much that one of of our Queenstown after-school classes is even named after it!
