Happy International Women's Day to all the adventurous women that are part of our MLP family! On this special day, we present one of our most successful projects, the Andean women’s co-op based in Mollepata, a town approximately 65 miles outside of Cusco. Check out this video to meet the fantastic women who are making a huge difference in the quality of life for their families and communities, thanks to Yanapana Peru, our non-profit/NGO dedicated to providing support to our Andean neighbors through the creation and implementation of health, agriculture/livestock, and social sustainability initiatives.
Last December, we hosted an exciting event at our Salkantay Lodge in Soraypampa to celebrate the successful completion of our first effort in the reforestation of the Andean highlands in Cusco. Spearheaded by our NGO, Yanapana Peru, along with the support of project sponsor REI Adventures, we planted 100,000 new seedlings in the Salkantay River basin. What’s next? MLP and Yanapana will join SERNANP (the Peruvian national parks service), as well as the Machu Picchu Park Service, to work toward an even bigger initiative called ‘One Million Trees for Machu Picchu’, in hopes of protecting the beauty and natural resources of the entire Cusco region.
