Uganda Travel Info

Kampala is 2 hours behind the Australian Eastern Standard Time.

In addition, 8 hours ahead of the Greenwich Mean Time and another 16 hours also ahead of the US Pacific time.

Moreover, this implies that when it is 12 sharp in Kampala; it's 2 Sharp in Sydney; 4 Sharp in London and 11sharp the previous day in New York.
Therefore when traveling to Uganda, you're required to purchase a local SIM cards which are readily available at Entebbe International Airport.

Mountain Gorillas

These together with the chimpanzees undeniably are the tourists' most preferred primates. This can be justify for instance; they share 97.8% of our DNA.

Unpopular though, in Uganda you will use the credit card especially when dealing with large companies and hotels. of course this attracts hefty surcharges. However the Barclays Bank offer smaller surcharges, so use it during your stay in Uganda.

Money matters & tourism in Uganda!

The US dollar and the pound Sterling are the strongest currencies in Uganda and are the easiest to exchange.
However the Uganda travel requires the tourists to use USD notes issued since 2000 only.
In addition to that, smaller notes say less than US$50 chiefly attract very low exchange rates. Moreover all forex bureau markedly take liquid cash and so we encourage you to look for the best exchange rates around. Enjoy a safe stay in Uganda.

'Money matters in Uganda'

We use as our official currency in Uganda.
Further, it's issued as notes of 1,000, 2,000, 5,000, 10,000, 20,000 and 50,000. However, it's also breaks down into coins which range from 50 shillings to 1000. Important to realize is that "the Uganda shilling is the easiest curreny to use than elsewhere in East Africa!"

Abdim’s Stork is also named White-bellied Stork.
It is an African species, smaller than Black Stork, very similar. In Uganda, it is found at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary
Adult has glossy black upper-parts with purple and green sheen, except on lower back, rump and upper-tail coverts which are white.
Underparts are pure white, except chin, throat and upper-breast which are black with purple sheen.

Under-wing shows black flight feathers and white coverts.

This Roman Catholic cathedral is arguably Gulu town's most naturally picturesque feature located at a busy
"For-God Trading Center," in Bardege division.
The facility seats the current Archbishop John Baptist Odama. In addition, it's a monument of the faith of early christians. Furthermore, it was here that Pope John Paul 2 led the "Holy Eucharist" in February 1993 during his visit to Uganda.

October 29, 2019, the Uganda Wildlife Authority last night released the first batch of five Rothschild's Giraffe into Piane Upe Wildlife Reserve. This is Uganda's largest wildlife reserve. As part of the reintroduction exercise that will see a total of 15 giraffes (5 males & 10 Females). The giraffes have been trans located from Murchison Falls National Park.

The translocation was being undertaken with support from the Giraffe Conservation Foundation and Chayenne Mountain Zoo in the United States. And lastly, Uganda Wildlife Conservation Center (UWEC), and Makerere University also participated in the exercise.
