🌍 We are thrilled to share that Tony Stenning, Regional Managing Director - AGL Southern Africa, participated in a roundtable led by Gaëlle Arenson, Editor-in-chief of Africa Business+. The session was titled "Unearthing Economic Growth Through Major Mining Projects."

Tony highlighted the critical role of reliable logistics in mining projects, using the Lobito Corridor as a key example. He emphasised the necessity of rail over road for moving massive volumes efficiently and sustainably and on the immense potential in the Lobito project.

🌍✨ Day 2 at the THE AFRICA CEO FORUM in Kigali, Rwanda!

Today, our President, Philippe Labonne, participated in an insightful roundtable discussion led by Abdou Diop and titled "Africa at the Table: Shaping a New Future”.

Philippe Labonne mentioned AGL's - Africa Global Logistics vision on advancing African integration, emphasizing the importance of infrastructure like railroads to unlock countries and decarbonize transportation. 🚂

He highlighted the need for scaling digitalization and investment to ensure Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) are efficient, advocating for the rapid movement of data to match the pace of goods. 📈

🤝 The Confederation of African Football (CAF) and Africa Global Logistics(AGL), have entered into a strategic partnership that makes AGL CAF's official logistics partner.

🚀 This collaboration between two organizations at the heart of Africa's transformations is an opportunity to make a significant contribution to the development of a sport that unites and inspires African youth.

Road safety awareness has no boundaries and every choice behind the wheel could impact other road users or cost lives!

AGL Uganda along with our clients have embarked on road safety campaigns throughout the calendar year 2023 to raise more awareness on road safety to all users.

We have engaged community leaders, district leaders, community residents, boda boda riders and school going children in the Albertine region. This week we are distributing Protective reflector jackets to the boda boda riders in Biiso and the surrounding areas.

At AGL Uganda, we continuously strive to achieve excellence in everything that we do, through ensuring that all levels of our leadership teams attain and deliver the highest leadership standards!

Through our QHSE leadership team, we recently organized a supervisory training course with the aim of uplifting the knowledge and skills in communication, implementation, visibility and the day-to-day engagement with employees and contractors and in line with the IOSH managing safely program UK.

The course emphasized the importance of leadership and compliance towards our policies & procedures, laws and requirements in respect to Quality, Health and Safety.
Successful candidates shall be awarded certificates at the end of the programme.

🚢 from shore to shore 🚚

🚩On July 31st, 2023, AGL Uganda successfully moved an 80-tonne vessel, 6 meters wide and 21 meters long from shore to shore From Port-bell - Lake Victoria to Lake Albert -Uganda's western region.

🚤AGL Uganda's teams have demonstrated their skills in transporting this out of gauge cargo.

🌍AGL Uganda hosted by Emaus confirms its status as a leading logistician in Uganda and an agile partner in supporting Ugandan companies.

Today the 31st of July 2023, we started the movement of an 80 tonne vessel (6 meters wide and 21 meters long) using our specialized extended low bed.

The vessel in transit to the lake Albert region in the western part of Uganda was successfully handled by our teams who continue to demonstrate agility and efficiency in the ex*****on of the transportation and logistics of out of guage cargo, while at all times incorporating quality, health and safety standards.

Integrated Logistics Systems- Tilenga (ILST), a subsidiary of Africa Global Logistics Uganda successfully held the 2nd National content supplier forum on 21st July 2023 under the theme “Building lasting synergies among subcontractors in the transportation sector to advance the oil and gas industry”

The local content forum served as a space for stakeholders to find ways and strategy on how to actively participate in available opportunities in the Oil and Gas Industry.

Key emphasis was made on the need for more partnership amongst the local transporters, information sharing between suppliers, exchanging of best practices required in the Oil and Gas field, the need to benchmark with other African Oil and Gas countries and lobbying for more financing by suppliers to enable them remain competitive and uphold the required standards.

AGL Uganda through the Integrated management system re echos the need for standardization through a proper and efficient quality management system (ISO 9001), Environment management system (ISO 14001) and safety management system (ISO 45001).

To ensure that we maintain efficient and functional systems in line with excellent performance, we have selected a team of internal auditors across the organization to participate in a volunteer audit programme that was launched early into the month.

It’s quality checks, it’s control measures, its risk management! The significant roles for an internal auditor. In the picture below the team undergoing a 3 day external training organized by the QHSE department.

Our Sea freight and Warehouse teams in a lively Q&A discussion with one of our shipping line partners at our main office premises in Kampala.

Further insights relating to shipping/ocean freight, Ports and various clearing & forwarding services along the corridor were discussed, as well as the resultant after cargo service delivery during this fruitful interactive session.

Container logistics is an inevitable part of the global supply chain and having the right partners for the logistics business is key.

Today the 5th of June 2023, AGL Business entities commemorated the World Environmental Day under the theme ‘Beat Plastic Pollution’.

Did you know that 30 million tonnes of plastics end up in the water bodies each year, an equivalent of one garbage truck per minute? Today, we were once again reminded of the benefits of practicing proper waste segregation (paper, plastic, metal etc) as a means of reducing waste sent to landfills and thus a shift towards a more sustainable environment.

We were also made to re appreciate the concepts of re use, recycling and repurposing that goes on during the waste collection processes by our waste collection partners.

Our CEO Philippe Labonne met this week in China with COSCO SHIPPING Lines and China Harbour Engineering Co. Ltd.

🤝 Africa Global Logistics is working with these Chinese companies to improve connectivity on the African continent and build logistics infrastructure.
