Recently, we’ve travelled up and down Tanzania for some weeks. As a result, check this little video of our favourite campsites in Tanzania 🇹🇿

New Travel Guide Kenya is online! 🇰🇪
Lots of info and inspiration for the self drive traveller.
Was definitely not able to write this without the help of Peter, the manager of Roadtrip Kenya. He used to be an Overland guide, and I dare to say he knows every rock in Kenya 😜

I'm proud and happy! After months of work, the new Roadtrip Africa website is in the air
Friends, family, colleagues, Africa-lovers and roadtrippers - I’m proud and grateful.
Finally….. after many months of designing, coding, writing and testing - our new website Roadtrip Africa is in the air.
It all started back in 2011, when Okke and I just moved to Kampala. Our dear friend Beathe Weckesser, always full of great and less great ideas ;) came over to visit us. She wanted to travel Uganda at her own pace and at an affordable rate. The roads are pretty good, the people oh so friendly, it’s safe, and there are boundless opportunities to camp.
But, this was not possible as no other company offered reliable car rental for self-drive with camp gear and local travel tips. Instead, safari goers in group tours roamed the country with their driver and guides, as if it were the 1950s.
We came up of the name Roadtrip Uganda - Drive Your Own Adventure, over a cup of coffee, build a crappy website in Wordpress and made @Karlijn Janseanother visiting friend, our very first ( paying!) customer.
An idea was born and now, seven years later, we've increased our fleet to over 75 jeeps, expanded to Tanzania, Kenya and Madagascar with passionate teams on the ground.
Four country websites have merged into one big Roadtrip Africa website, with lots of suggested routes and travel tips.
We hope our new site helps you to Drive Your Own Africa Adventure! What do you think of it?

Special thanks to Julius Ashabaomwe, who have been with us since the humble beginnings, Shaban our head mechanic, Bram Lind & Emmy van Kleef - who made Roadtrip Uganda what it is today and ventured with us to Kenya and Beathe Weckesser, as it all starts with an idea.
Happy weekend, Happy travels - Okke & Laura
What is your next roadtrip destination?
Over the last couple of months, we have been travelling Madagascar up and down and welcomed the first bunch of roadtrippers. We combined our experiences and those of other travellers in a number of suggested routes. Check it out on our new website! www.roadtripmadagascar.com
