Before joining 360 in 2017, I saw myself doing some other fun activities given that I was in my senior six vacation. However, when I found out I was joining, I wasn't exactly thrilled since my parents partly made the decision for me, but aren't I glad that eitherway I joined.
I learnt so much about God, His ways and His word, all thanks to the facilitors who taught and engaged with us. While in the programme I had the awesome opportunity of going into community to meet and do life with those who are less privileged than myself. I got to serve and help out at some street kids’ facilities and teenage mothers’ homes. The opportunity opened my eyes to what others are going through and how I can be a blessing in their lives. We went through a workshop on the 7habits of highly effective college students which has kept being a guide for me in terms of being efdective.
I also met people who I call friends and family now, which I am thankful to God for.
Special thanks to the church and a team of hardworking facilitators for availing this opportunity to us.
I recently graduated from University and work with one of the media companiea here in Uganda but continue to apply the biblical principle that I learnt from Watoto360.

CASPER'S STORY

I started this amazing journey in January 2016 and it was really the best 6 months of my life. It really changed my way of thinking. In this period of time I felt so close to God because all the amazing things we did for Him and His people. We did ministry outreaches in the slums, pregnancy centers, prisons, orphanages and so many more humbling places.
After our graduation I felt sad because it felt like I wasn’t finished with Uganda yet, but decided to go back home in Netherlands. I started to work and save up all my money with a goal to go back to Uganda. I got in touch with The Gem Foundation, an organization that takes care of children with special needs. During my time with Gem, I thought many times about the family that lived in one of the slums that we visited during our time in Watoto360. Mama Catharine had a son called Calvin and it felt like God was telling me to sponsor him into the Watoto360 program, which I did. I believe this is where the mission of Watoto360 is about; “Investing in the growth of a whole person so as to transform a whole community and the whole world for God’s glory.” After Calvin graduated from the program, he got an opportunity to travel as a uncle with the Watoto children’s choir.
I thank God for using Watoto360 in that season of my life to position me into becoming the man that I am today. I live a more fulfilled and purposeful life now.

ATUHAIRE SHEBA BYOONA'S TESTIMONY

Prior to joining Watoto360, I saw myself joining driving school or taking cooking classes. In my 18 year-old mind, 6 months were too much of a sacrifice but interestingly, Watoto360 ended too soon for me.
Watoto360 not only answered the many questions I had at the time but it prospectively solved riddles I still meet today. It was an essential experience that reflected understanding of the strains entrenched in young people; we grapple with a war against the standards of this world, identity, self-worth and insecurities concerning what the future holds to mention but a few. There was no better place to address these life-altering queries for me than the house of God itself.
I look back and realize that Watoto360 called me to be more than a ‘pew-warmer’ in church; it revealed to me an onus to be grounded in serving within the church and the community to which I belong. I now know that my circle of influence is ever present regardless of whether I’m aware of it or not, and my greatest calling is to model Jesus and draw people to Him. I am eternally grateful to Watoto Church for such a critical program tailor-made for young Christians like myself.

STEPHANIE'S STORY

I have been a part of Watoto, volunteering with the Watoto children’s choir, since 2015 when I was still studying in Hong Kong. I visited Uganda for the first time in 2017, then 2018 the second time. I’ve always had the interest to stay and take a closer look at the country and the culture, beyond the first impression of a scenic country with nice fruits and weather but a lot of traffic jam. When I graduated from campus at the end of 2018 as a speech-language therapist, I didn’t know how to go about my career. I prayed about getting a job in hospitals, special needs institutions in Hong Kong, but nothing came back positive despite the results that would have been good enough to get me a job. So instead of diving straight into work, I decided to take some time off and joined 360. I’m a second-generation Christian, but my time in Watoto 360 was the first time I actually took a very close look at my relationship with Christ and reflect a lot about my purpose in life. We had a lot of time to read and understand the Word and how that should guide our daily living, reflect on and resolve issues with our past and pray about our directions going forward. We were also given opportunities to serve in the communities as well as different departments in church. Over the course of 360, I was equipped to be a better instrumentalist and have been involved in the worship arts ministry as a keyboardist ever since. God was also very clear about my calling to serve him and his people through my profession. After 360, I stayed behind for another 3 months to volunteer at the clinics in Watoto villages as a speech-language therapist. That’s when God opened up my eyes to the need of special needs children in the country. He clearly spoke to me through Matthew 25, it says ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’” I was called to serve the least of all, the forgotten, abandoned and the hopeless. Resources and labour of such profession were scarce, but the need is huge in the country. As I’m speaking right now, it’s my second year since God opened doors for me to work with a school called Dawn children’s Centre, to serve families with children who have special education needs including autism spectrum disorder, cerebral palsy and among others through my profession as a speech-language therapist. It’s been the most rewarding experience embracing differences among people and helping these children to understand and communicate with the world despite the challenges they have. Seeing families reconcile and learning to love their special ones brings me joy on a daily basis.

Watoto 360 has truly transformed me as a person, it provided me with a platform and the guidance I needed at that season of life to intentionally take time off and focus on my relationship with Christ, and align my life to the purpose I was created and called for.

ANNA MATHIS' TESTIMONY
After High School I desired to live in a place where people were not as wealthy as in Switzerland, I wanted help and I wanted to grow deeper in my faith. Watoto 360 seemed to combine these things, so I decided to join.
Soon I realized that many people in Uganda were spiritually rich, even if they were materially poor. I started to desire that spiritual wealth for my life like never before. I started to read the Bible with a different passion and experienced how God spoke to me very personally. As 360 team we served a lot in different ministries and in church. There I really learned what serving means. For example, we get up early on Sundays just to pile chairs and cleaning the floor of some places we haven’t made dirty ourselves. I experienced serving, even when I didn’t see things change, but still kept on hearing people saying: We are doing this for God. Serving
probably changed me much more than it changed the people I was serving.
But the real start of my 360 was when the program was over. Back home there was my daily
life with studies, friends, family, church on Sunday and small group on Monday. Wealthy Switzerland seemed spiritually so poor. The fellowship, prayers, talks about God and the Bible were not part of my daily routine. And I missed all these things. Even tough I was part of a very vibrant church in Switzerland, it wasn’t the same. My desire to spend time with God increased like never before, I dedicated a lot of time to read the Bible and pray. Through that I got passionate about building Christ-centered communities. I got more involved in my youth group than before and later in another ministry, where I served with that servant attitude that I learned in 360. Six years later I can say that God shaped me a lot through 360 and what I learned from the experience can’t be learned through sermons, teachings or Bible studies; it needs a physical experience, a real encounter.
