Many parents believe that infants “sleep through” circumcision and that proper (or any) anesthesia is used. The most recent Cochrane review examining pain relief during infant circumcision showed that there are no available anesthetic options that eliminate circumcision pain. One of the most commonly used anesthetics, EMLA cream, is also the least effective, and is not recommended for use on the ge****ls of children.
Many physicians still use nothing at all. Anesthesia was rarely used prior to 1997 and any use of anesthetic is at the individual physician’s discretion, as it is not legally required. Research has demonstrated that infants feel pain like adults and their brain shows four times the pain response to a light poke compared to adults who recieve the same touch.
Consider that an infant will have four times the pain response and a lack of proper anesthetic during circumcision, compared to a consenting adult, as well as a lack of pain management during aftercare while the wound heals. A new study suggests many people with cognitive symptoms have abnormalities in their spinal fluid. These anomalies can be detected months after the initial bout with the virus, even in patients who were never hospitalized for COVID.

Your tongue acts as a rudder and support system through a fascial line that runs right down to your toes!
In nearly all my patients, I see poor tongue posture, and the links to bad spinal posture, breathing, and other issues are felt right throughout the body.
The simplest way we can see how the tongue is so influential is how it supports proper head posture. When the tongue is down and forward, forward head posture and mouthbreathing occurs.
Over time this associates with a narrow jaw, crooked teeth, and sleep disorders.
But… you guessed it, as always the mouth is a gateway for so many other systems in the body.
The tongue is an extremely complex muscular and fascial rudder system.
It guides all the structures of the myofascial continuity that runs from the inner arch of the foot all the way up through the middle of the body to the tongue and jaw muscles.
Isn’t that amazing?
Actually the tongue is potentially more important for core stability than turning on your actual core.
Our core begins deep under the arch with the insertions of the tendons from the lower leg, especially tibialis posterior.
To find its insertion, feel just under the inside arch of the foot, just underneath and forward of protrusion of the navicular bone you can feel a bit over an inch in front of your tibial malleolus on the inside of your ankle.
This point will respond to a soft-but-energy-rich touch that is held, and also to a more firm and direct fascial release. Pressing here can make a flow of feeling run up the fascial line.
So for better core support, spinal, hip and leg strength, you need to work on your tongue posture.
During exercise practice sealing the tongue to the roof of the mouth, this turns on the fascial rudder to the toes. It takes time and you need to work on making the BACK of the tongue connect to the soft palate. More on this to come.

Breathing creates your posture.
Did you know that mouth breathing is an adaption? We are not designed to breathe through the mouth in normal situations.
Mouth breathing distorts the skeletal system.
Mouth-breathing is a common clinical condition among school-age children and some studies have correlated this condition with quality of life and postural alterations.
One study titled: Orientation and position of head posture, scapula and thoracic spine in mouth-breathing children -
Looked at the orientation and position of the scapula, thoracic spine and head posture among mouth-breathing (MB) children and nasal-breathing (NB) children. They found:
Mouth Breathing children increased scapular superior position in comparison to nasal breathing children due probably to the position of forward head, leading to an alteration in the positioning of the mandible. The absence of significantly difference in posture pattern between groups in the present study could attributed to height-weight development in this age, as the posture of children changes in order to adapt to new body proportions, regardless of health status.
The results observed in this study are correlation, not causation. But they may demonstrate the importance of using reliable measurements in the postural assessment of mouth breathing and nasal breathing children helping physical therapists to focus their strategies during rehabilitation in more specific conditions
One central factor in this picture is the tongue. When you learn that the tongue is the ‘rudder’ to hold the cervical spine straight, then it helps you to build straight, nasal breathing posture.
When the tongue is sealed to the roof of the mouth, and this means the back part of the tongue, it seals the oral cavity, and holds the throat open like a tent.
These are the muscles that support the neck, hold your posture straight, help you breathe, and maintain your posture for life.
Do you suffer from neck pain or forward head posture?
