The local museum has amazing historic photos, and here they featured our arches! This is a short walk from the house and feels like another world, but you have to cross a creek which can be significant in winter months. But it’s always a gift when accessible. 🥹

This is a nice feature article about our community. Also, a large section of Arch Cape forest has recently been purchased by the community for protection, and planning for its use is underway. I’m hopeful for some beautiful new trails to explore right from The Pelican! 😎

It’s done! The new deck and whole outdoor area came out incredible! It feels like you’re standing on a boat in the ocean. And the house got a good power washing and the color between old and new cedar is less drastic. I love it all! 😍

Things wrap up on the deck project tomorrow! 🥳 I loved how great the new beach gateway turned out. Perfectly frames Castle Rock. There’s an awesome piece of driftwood topping the other side. I’ll share more pics when I’m back there in a couple weeks. 😎

So many things! 1. Gorgeous day but COLD, those were brave souls. 2. The tide delivered some cool beach art to frame Castle Rock. 3. Big things are coming! Cafe and coffee shop to open soon at the top of the road with Castle Rock coffee! Can’t wait til we can just stroll up the road for espresso. and 4. A mini project done during deck work… the beach steps are now paved!! 🥳

Watch that first step, it’s a doozy! 😆 So demo is complete, new support piers are poured and it’s ready for the new deck to begin! You can see the outline and how much bigger the main deck level will be. 🤗

Boom, demo nearly complete! The new deck will share footprint with much of the old due to what I could permit. But it will be larger without the ramps taking up space, and there will be no railings crossing in front of any windows! ☺️

Big things are about to happen! Permits are in and the deck remodel will officially kick off in 10 days!! When complete, the view from anywhere inside will be railing-free! While I love the ramps, they take up so much space and create a spider web across the view. Can’t wait to share construction progress in a couple weeks! 🦺😁

Had the first good storm of the season last night. Was grateful for the rain but also that it cleared for a morning walk. This kid does not care about the cold, she’s getting her feet in the ocean no matter what. 😜

Tons of rugged beauty and coastal creatures a short walk south from the house. Easy to access in the summer and no crowds or parking nightmares like trying to get to Haystack. I always feel grateful to experience this untouched special place! 🤗
