I think there is something grounding about pen and paint brush hitting paper and creating something truly unique. Which is why each piece is hand-drawn with love, from my dining room table. m the momma of a spunky 3 year-old, Emma Kate, and an almost 1-year-old bear named Jonah. I chose the name, Down River, partly as a shout-out to my hubby, Adam, who was a white water rafting guide when we met in Colorado 7 years ago and is now a small business owner here in Austin. His heart is on the water. We've been married for 4 years and a river is a great picture of our family story. Constant motion, the rush of change, thrilling (read:stressful) risk, moments of peace and an anticipation of what's ahead. After transitioning to life as a full-time mom, I picked back up my pen and brush, only designing artwork and invitations for close friends and family. Drawing is how I feel refreshed. It's what I do when the house is quiet. This shop most importantly is my way of showing Ek and Jonah that taking risk and using their unique gifts and passions is worth it.
