Since my last report, the fishing has been strong to say the least. Great catches of redfish, trout, flounder, ladyfish, spanish mackerel, tripletail, and sharks. Chumming up sharks and targeting them with artificial and fly has been a blast. Live baiting has been the most productive inshore with th…

Had a blast sight fishing large blacktips on the fly with Ambassador Capt.Tucker Blythe of Grey Ghost Charters. Cool eats, fast runs and jumps... Can't ask for much more from a fish on the fly

It has been awhile since my last report. February and March were filled with rainy and windy days. This limited our good opportunities for the redfishing on the flats. We did have some great days in the mix with flies and lures. Shad fishing this season was on fire. We have stocked up plenty of these oily fish for our upcoming shark season. Lately the weather has been great with temperatures in the 70-80’s. Water temp has reached 70 in most inshore areas and nearshore will not be far behind. We anticipate the cobia will begin they’re migration off our coast any day. The red fishing has been better and better each day. They have been cooperative in creeks, flats, and on structure spots. Live bait, lures, and flies have been productive. The trout bite has really started to heat up. April and May will bring some of the largest trout of the year. The sheepshead bite has been excellent ...

New post (Late Fall/ Early Winter Report) has been published on Grey Ghost Charters - Charleston, SC

November has been nothing short of it’s usual reputation for being one of the best months to fish around Charleston. Specks, reds, and sheepshead inshore have all been very cooperative. Nearshore the bull reds and false albacore have made a great showing. Sight fishing on the flats has really begun to heat up. Clear water schools of reds will be our focus throughout the winter. These redfish are perfect targets for the light tackle or fly fishing enthusiast. I look forward to the New Year and wish everyone a Happy Holidays.

The last 2 months have produced some great catches. This is the time of year we look forward to after a long hot summer. As the water temps continues to drop, fish of all species have been hungry inshore and nearshore. Reds, trout, flounder, and sheepshead have been our targets. Bull reds will remain around inlets and sand bars before they’re annual migration offshore sometime in November. False Albies and Bull reds will concentrate over reefs and live bottom from 30-60ft. Flats fishing will only get better into November. Sightfishing clear water reds will be our focus into this winter.

The second part of summer has produced some great fishing in Charleston. Redfish and Sharks have given anglers lots of excitement on lures, flies, and bait. Focus on targeting sharks on fly has been a riot. We have landed some 100+ # Blacktip sharks on Fly along with many smaller 20-40 # sharks. Redfish continue to feed on the flats even in this hot humid weather. The cool fronts to come will start our annual mullet run and clear our waters creating a sight fishing paradise. The speckled trout fishing will really heat up with cooler waters as well.

20+ on light tackle

Personal best Redfish 14 #’s!

New post (June Fishing Report) has been published on Grey Ghost Charters - Charleston, SC

June has been a great month for Grey Ghost Charters. The fishing has been red hot with Redfish, Trout, Spanish, Ladyfish, and Sharks. We have done some experimenting with sharks on the Fly which is great fun. 20-40 # fish on Fly. The redfish have been up in the grass tailing on the extreme high tides and slurping shrimp during early morning low tides. Trout have been strong near inlets and along the beachfronts. Spanish have been around the Jetties, tidelines, and on some days in the Harbor. Tarpon will be on our radar into the next few months. Hope to see you on the water. Tight Lines!

Fishing in the Charleston Harbor has been on fire. Spanish mackerel, bluefish, trout, and reds have been taking advantage of the abundant glass minnows and menhaden flooding into our waters. Fishing will only continue to get better into the early summer.
